True, but removing the whales did change history, since the whalers who would have killed them(were it not for the spaceship their harpoon hit) had their income decreased by the proceeds of that kill.
It's a common theme in time travel sci-fi how one small event in the past changes a ton of stuff in the present and future.
"The crew of the Enterprise goes back to an earlier century on Earth, to make sure that history happens as it should ("S.T. IV: The Voyage Home"; "S.T. VIII: First Contact")."
This is an interesting interpretation of the Episode IV story-line. The crew did not go back in time to prevent someone from changing history as they did in VIII. Rather the crew went back in time to change history. The Borg didn't go back and kill the Whales, the humans did it all by themselves!
Anyway, I'm not sure this guy watched either movie, and some of the Star Trek movies do suck, but the plots don't over lap that much...
I'm not sure we should praise him for choosing cocaine and alcohol over pot. Granted, since he won't give an answer on his past drug use (Clinton at least gave an answer), his alleged cocaine habit is just an undenied rumor. His record as a drinker is a matter of public record, since on at least one occasion he drank and then drove while still intoxicated.
He used his father's political connections to avoid going to Vietnam, if that's not draft dodging, I don't know what is.
Rapist?
I find the phrase "the saftey of Oxford" troubling for some reason. You seem to imply that organizing pro-communist teach-ins would be dangerous in America. What does that say about our freedom?
He was in the National Guard, and he joined to avoid going to Vietnam. You can talk about his military service if you want to, but I think you do a disservice to the people who died in that horrific war.
I was seriously considering buying Office v.x so that I wouldn't have to switch to classic everytime I wanted to run Excel. Switching to Classic is far less painful now(Launching classic and Excel took 40 seconds). Granted this is not super speedy, but it is a significant improvement.
Jaguar may be a minor upgrade in name (0.1 increment), but in fact it is a huge upgrade. Compare changes from 10.1->10.2 to changes from Windows 98SE->Windows ME
You're right about XServe, my bad... You're wrong about iBook and iPod. We can debate whether the changes made to iBook were significant enough (one change being that people in the press stopped calling it a handbag) to merit Keynote status. In the past, Apple has announced changes in color schemes of iMacs at Expos(now that's what I call a trivial redesign). Apple cannot afford to wait for an Expo to release 10.2 once it's ready. If Jaguar is ready in August, that's when it should be released, not when the next Expo happens.
This used to be true, but one can look to several recent releases that were made independent of Expo's iPod, XServe, eMac, and I think the redesigned iBook. Apple has moved away from the release at an Expo model for releasing software and hardware. If they really can make the August date, expect an announcement at Expo, and a relatively quiet rollout (no event, announcement on website) in August.
Elizabeth Smart's disappearance is national news because of the way it happened--in her house at gunpoint. Alexis Patterson disappeared on the way to school. Equally tragic, but less shocking. Neither child's disappearance has gotten more coverage than Chandra Levy did pre 9-11.
Should you trust a guy...

Assuming there's a direct relationship between surface area and memory capacity. so this is nit even a two-fold improvement over DVD (I think a dual layered DVD holds about 9.4G of data).
Can Return of the Jedi be any worse? There was some cool stuff in the movie, but of the four Star Wars films I've seen Episode VI comes in at a distant third behind IV, which lost to Episode V by a nose. I haven't seen episode II yet, sacrelige I know...
Filmmakers need to stop screwing around with their films. It's one thing to add scenes that were deleted, but the changes made to Episode IV, and E.T are unforgiveable. I for one was satisfied with the world where Han Solo shots first, and Elliot's mom thought his costume made him look like a terrorist.
I understand the director of To Kill a Mockingbird is going to release a version with an all white cast to remove the racial overtones of the film.
I seriously doubt Kinko's would do this. They are ultra-paranoid about violating copyright. I imagine if you could do it at Kinko's, you'd have to all the work yourself in the Self-Service area. I doubt they have machines like that in self-service.

You left out the worst natural disaster in U.S. history. The Galveston Hurricane of 1902 killed over 6,000 people.

No benefit to politicians to remid us how unsafe we were while they were in office. This is a day of remembrance, benefitting everyone.

10.2 has lots of new features, what did WinME have lots of Hype, but you don't hear about Microsoft refunding people the upgrade cost.
Maybe the reason WinME sucked so bad was to encourage people to upgrade to XP when it came out.

Does the benefit of getting broadband to the South Pole outweigh the environmental impact of getting it there?
You are the man :)

I guess they didn't like the name iP (freely)

I guess Apple would like you to consider the flat-panel iMac instead

I finally download 4.0, and they come out with 4.1 Beta!
