We ran a convention up at Simon Fraser University last summer (which will be again this summer), and I have to agree, the concrete just murders cell phone reception, let alone our FRS radio signals. However, it is strange that at of all places, Fido doesn't suck at SFU.
Downtown Vancouver gets a bit dicey with my phone, which is weird, because it is concrete, glass, and metal mostly.
"Relatively?" More like it is entirely flat. The only hills you'll find are when you're hitting the tunnel, an overpass on the 99 or 91, or the five bridges that go into the city.
The reason why Microcell is introducing the service into the area is partly due to the fact that the majority of Richmond's population is west of Highway 99, which means the population is relatively dense. In fact, the majority of the population sits around Richmond Centre, which isn't really all that large of an area when you look at it.
I am on Fido in Greater Vancouver -- Richmond is a part of the area, and Fido's reception is varying. I go to Richmond on a bi-weekly basis, and it gets a bit irritating that sometimes when I enter certain buildings, my reception drops considerably, sometimes to the point where it is unusable.
Fido (Microcell) uses GSM, which most likely means that this service is GPRS-based, which works on the same waveband if I remember right. They're notorious for offering awesome packages, but pitiful reception in certain areas.
I hope that if they're going to introduce this service that they actually improve the signal quality, because it isn't GSM that is the problem -- Rogers AT&T Wireless uses the same system, but it is the fact that there isn't enough nodes for me to connect to.
I am a very happy Fido customer regardless, but there are times where the reception blackouts do piss me off.
What you need to do to get X11 to work on a Mac, in Debian, is to set it up so the boot loader for Linux that runs in the Mac OS (assuming you're booting from an OW machine), so it doesn't execute the video extensions for your system. Once the boot loader executes upon startup, it should allow you to start X11 with no issue at all.
One major flaw to your statement is the fact that the Xbox 2 will have a completely different processor than from what the Xbox has no. Instead of having an Intel Pentium III inside the sucker, it will probably have some RISC-based chipset from IBM, maybe PowerPC.
Unless they get some decent emulation going, I really don't see how these Xbox games are going to perform well on the Xbox 2 if it has a completely different processor.
Last time I checked, OS X came out well over a year prior to XP.

No. Michael was kicked out, he got whiny, and yanked the site off seeing he owned the domain. He has renewed the domain a few times after, so that makes him a huge jackass.
This is why you buy tons of batteries for Christmas; otherwise your new toys will not work!

Slashdot is one giant hypocrisy. The editors bitch and whine about restrictions on freedom of speech and other freedoms held dear by you Americans, but at the same time, restrict the freedom of speech on this website by moderating comments down.
Michael is the worst of them all, as he decided to be a whiny little bitch, and shut down the Censorware site.

HEY. LETS SQUAT A DOMAIN BECAUSE I'M A PRISSY LITTLE BITCH! OH. I CAN BE HIRED BY MR. ROB MALDA AT THE SAME TIME TOO!
Of course, I need to add this last line so the lameness filter doesn't fuck around. It is wrong to yell, apparently!
The NYT has a review/comparison of XM radio and Sirius, the two systems of digital satellite radio. Not everyone wants to pay for radio, but I guess if you spend enough time listening to it, maybe it's worthwhile.
Michael Sims, you're not "everybody." For fuck's sake, grow up and realise the world doesn't revolve around your ego.
They're what we call here in Vancouver as "counterflow lanes."
On the 99 Highway -- a highway that stretches from the Canada/US border which connects with I-5 -- there is a tunnel called the George Massey Tunnel linking South Delta and Richmond, which are both suburbs of Vancouver. The maximum speed allotted is 100 KM/h (60 Mph), and the lanes reverse during rush hours. In the morning, the southbound left lane is used as a nortbbound lane through the tunnel, and in the evening, the northbound left lane is used as a soutbound lane. During non-peak hours, the lanes act as normal lanes.
The same method is applied to the Lions Gate Bridge, which is a three-lane bridge that connects the downtown seciton of Vancouver through Stanley Park to the suburbs of West Vancouver and North Vancouver. The middle lane is reversed at certain times of the day. However, the bridge's speed is limited to 60 KM/h, which is something like 35 Mph for you English Unit-using Americans.
I use that software, and it is still ridiculous that I have to use it everytime I use RealOne. I can get around it by using Media Player Classic, which uses RealOne and Quicktime libraries to play Real and Quicktime files, but there are times I need RealOne to play streams that MPC sometimes struggles to play.
I shouldn't be having to remove the programme from memory via the Task Manager, and I should be having to use that control panel to make sure it doesn't load itself at logon.
And so, now that you know, can anyone come forth with proof that Canada exists?
Hi.
(From Vancouver, British Columbia)
This sounds like the product of an American school system.
I am no Kiwi.
Is the sucker still operable?
Yeah. August 20th to 22nd at the same place. :)

If push comes to shove, just find an inanimate carbon rod and all problems will be solved.

Open Source is doomed to fail anyway. Just take a look at Microsoft and see how their profits keep improving even though Linux is somehow "advancing."

Okay, smartass. The comments previous to mine were not made by me, and if you're so fucking smart, name what features Apple has stolen from Microsoft!
