Since that, the fucking companies in the United States have imposed a fucking 19% tariff on all processed log exports.

When the United States landed on the moon in 1967, didn't they basically claim it as their own just by planting their flag on it? Sure, the USSR was after the same goal, but as soon as the United States got up there, did the USSR stop any sort of attempt to get there?

Sure, there is a UN treaty stating that no government can own property on an extra-terrestrial body. However, it is still the US' theoretical property. It is really no different than Britain owning Australia, Canada, or any Commonwealth country still, even though the countries are their own now and have their own constitution.

On the subject of energy, what is stopping them from building a nuclear reactor on the moon to harvest power? If there is the supposed water on there, wouldn't it support all the requirements needed for the reactor?

To launch the payloads off the moon, they could use a maglev-like device and essentially "slingshot" whatever off the surface and towards the Earth.

Basically, it boils down to SMP support beyond four processors. I want to see it support at least eight to twelve processors without choking on a bone. FreeBSD, another free UNIX varient, has had excellent SMP support longer than Linux has.

Also, it needs a unified body. No company is interested in hearing what Red Hat offers in comparison to what SuSE, Debian, or some other group offers. The problem in the Linux community that its openness has created a tree of a mess and that mess can lead to confusion. This also plays a factor in why Linux cannot be supported properly on the desktop.

Finally, there needs to be a unified UI also. Mac OS X did it, Solaris has a default UI, and I am sure the phelora of other Unices have a default UI of some sort.

  21. Slashdot today... on IBM 600 Series Laptops and Flaky Batteries? · · Score: -1, Troll

As we all well know, Slashdot loves to speak out against free speech. If you check out Your Rights Online, you'll find a massive collection of articles ranging from stories about the Freedom of Information Act, "Illegal Art", people suing over negative Ebay feedback, right down to editor responsibility for website content. In a sense, Slashdot is your source for information regarding your rights to free speech and how the Internet and society as a whole affect that right.

Does Slashdot practice what it preaches, though? I can safely say, no.

Slashdot limits those with negative karma to one or two posts a day, sometimes not even that. Slashdot also has been banning some accounts due to that exact same reason. Alongside with that, they also have been limiting Anonymous Coward posts down to 10 a day. Where is the free speech in that? Of course, you can say whatever you want, but what is stopping it from being demoded, let alone, why can't you speak as much as you want?

We have editors that believe that Microsoft is wrong and evil, because it acts like a business. Heck, you cannot even add your MSN Messenger contact to your information, yet you can add Y!, ICQ, AOL IM, and Jabber. We have an editor who thinks it is right to squat a domain, because some shithead and himself disagree over certain issues. In fact, the editors as a whole really are just big hypocrites.

Going back to the moderation and karma, did you know that you cannot see the amount of moderations taken upon a post? Sure, you can see the amount in percentages, but that doesn't tell you a whole lot. It is bad enough that our karma is no-longer representable in a number-form, but in words such as "Excellent," "Good," "Positive," "Bad," and "Terrible."

Slashdot proclaims itself as a good site for people to get their views out. How the heck does the moderation system make sure that everyone's views are represented appropriately? Lets put it this way, the Slashdot moderation system is flawed for this reason. There is nothing stopping someone from demoding someone just because that person doesn't agree with his or her views. Add the fact, the moderators as a whole have the same powers 24/7 that 400 Slashdot members have 5 times for a period of 5 days at any given time.

There also has been an epidemic in duplicate stories. Sure, it is expected that maybe once a month or so, a duplicate or two may get by. Yet, it gets ridiculous when two or three stories get duplicated in a week, sometimes even in a day. Why hasn't Slashdot come to the point of allowing the same idea that is applied to moderation to story submission? The editors should allow stories to go into a daily collection and allow 400 or so people to "vote" on which stories should go in (with a maximum of ten votes or so). Of course, the reasons behind this will never happen, according to Slashdot, is that they wouldn't be able to handle the load, or we would get "offended" by some of the content that could be submitted. Obviously Slashdot hasn't thought this through.

Going back on stories, what about the "Slashdot effect?" When is Slashdot going to learn that they should provide an available mirror for every page they know cannot handle the load that Slashdot gives various websites on a consistent basis? In fact, what is going to stop someone from accusing Slashdot of purposely causing a site to go down because its agenda goes against what the majority of what the Slashdot editors think?

I can go on and on when it comes down to these subjects. However, I think I have covered enough here. Feel free to moderate this post to your liking, e-mail me if you want, reply, or whatever.

From there, you head to the border via BC17 or BC99 (via BC17, BC10, and BC99A). From there, you should or try to get on the Interstate 5 and drive all the way down it through Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego into Tijuana, Mexico. From there, I am a tad clueless, but I am sure you can keep on going down.
