    Any ad that gets through noscript will be hovered over, just long enough for me to use firebugs inspect element and then edit it out of the damn page.

    Does this mean that google will think I am interested in those ads (some google domains are permitted to use javascript due to gmail)?

    Secrecy is entrusted to the government on the assumption that it will only be used when truly needed.

    However the same power can be and is abused to subvert the freedom of its own people, as misappropriation for personal gain by powerful people and used to cover up ineffective, improper, illegal or immoral activity.

    Whistle blowers object to these abuses and fight against it in the only way possible, by removing the shroud of secrecy and revealing these violations of trust to the public.

    Mistakes may be made, but revealing the abuse of trust by the government is vital to the continuation of freedom and democracy.

    Most of their material covers what other news sources have reported.

    They do occasionally send "reporter|comedians" to the field.

    The best examples of this are their coverage of conventions during national elections.

    They do interview actual persons of interest.

    Consider how far "real" journalism has fallen (most of it is also editorial and commentary).

    The comedy news isn't that far behind.

    Bottom barrel mice are not found at best buy.

    I get my "bottom barrel mice" out of the bottom of my barrel (technically it is a large plastic tub) that contains a random assortment of computer components left over from the last 20 years of hoarding parts.

    The $20 USB optical mice from best buy are over priced, but hardly bottom of the barrel.

    This is standard operating procedure and responsible disclosure as far as I can tell.

    The problem is that the company is likely to file an injunction to stop the presentation and possibly file blackmail charges against you.

    You need to amend the above procedure with anonymous notification and demonstration in order to protect the safety of those following responsible disclosure.

    Many classes, particularly those at the core of your degree program can not be tested out of.

    I had to take CSC 101 and 102 (c++) in my last year at school because they would not accept my 2 semesters of C++ from my previous degree, and the 7 or so subsequent 300, 400 and 500 level classes that required me to know c++.

    It has come pretty close to that for me.

    In the last 5 years, I have only bought 2 games at normal price. Maybe 5 more at $20 and a handful at $5.

    I don't even have a real video card in my computer anymore. My play-station 2 is in pieces (but still working thanks to some patched cables).

    I am just not willing to invest time in new crap games, much less the high price generally demanded.

    Blizzard uses torrents to distribute WOW patches.

    Ubuntu, Eclipse, MySql, and more use torrents for the distribution of open source software.

    For any widespread distribution of large files, bandwidth can become quite costly. Torrents are just about the best solution to reducing those costs.

    With EA involved expect to pay $69.99 up front for the game, except that the last half is available only for $10 as down loadable content, $14.99 monthly for the subscription, $49.99 every year for the obligatory expansion, $4.99 for each extra map, and then, you can pay $0.10 for each extra click per day.

    Not the point.

    The point is that fox news is owned by the same company that owns the monopoly rights to high speed internet in much of the country.

    And that corporation would start to filter and restrict its users free access to competing news sources.

    Agree, freedom of religion is also freedom from religion.

    Creationism has no place in a science class.

    If it is to be taught anywhere, it should be in a comparative religion class where they also teach the Greek myths, Norse Legends, Hindu epics, Aboriginal dream-time, and Quetzalcoatl.

    An educated consumer might even use the amount of radiation output by a cell phone to buy one with higher output, because a stronger transmitter may mean fewer dropped calls.

    100% of legal gun ownership results in legal use.

    Going to the shooting range is legal use.

    Hunting is legal use.

    Letting it sit in a drawer is legal use.

    Despite what you see on the news, violent crime in America is at an all time low.

    Only a few percent will ever be in a position to witness a violent crime first hand, and since most people do not carry guns every where they go, they are only likely to be able to use a gun in defense in cases of home invasion.

    I think you would be hard pressed to say that 0.3% of gun ownership results in illegal use.

    I don't recall the exact figures, but there are something like 100 to 200 million guns in the us and only a few thousand shooting homicides, and a few tens of thousands of armed robberies a year.

    Writing good software within the requirements, support framework, time-line and budget imposed on you by management/clients is hard, often impossible.

    I was aiming for humor in truth, but I guess no one got it.

    It was along the lines of:

    if 36 slides of your parents vacation is bad, then imagine being forced to sit through 12 thousand slides instead.
