    how are they going to lock out used games on physical media? they will just lock out levels and characters so you are in effect playing an extended demo unless you buy the whole game

    optical disks i can use anywhere are for grandma

    downloading the same games that are locked to my console is so much cooler and sexier. its like 3g vs wifi. 3g is awesome compared to grandma's wifi.

    almost all people with cash businesses do it for the tax benefits. accepting traceable payments mean they just increased their costs

    its happening slowly but only because physical purchases like magazines at news stands are going digital and cash businesses are going out of business for lack of things to sell

    the supreme court said you can't clog the court system with minor nonsense about billing issues or service issues. you can still file a class action for the reason they were created if some company inflicts major financial or physical pain on you. like an insurance company denying legit claims of thousands of people as a matter of corporate strategy

    linux isn't secure by itself. you have to configure it to be secure and you still have to buy firewalls and all kinds of appliances to monitor traffic. add that up along with the extra work required to set it up compared to windows and its cheaper to buy windows.

    people don't work for free. figure $120,000 or so per employee when you figure all the benefits. cheaper to just buy windows

    its already happening, people are buying smartphones and ipads. even my wife's macbook rarely gets used. she's always on her iphone.

    the computer is mostly a paperweight at home that i turn on once a month to copy photos from my iphone

    your annual profit is $483 million. it's going to cost you about that much to build a new plant so you can sell your product cheaper and get your profit down to $200 million

    these decisions aren't rocket science. i bet your're not running a business

    years ago on some talk show Julia Roberts said that out of a $20 million paycheck on a movie she's lucky to see $4 million

    between agent fees and taxes there is not much left. and if a movie is going to gross $500 million around the world including home video sales why should the top talent settle for pennies?

    there is no way hollywood can make money on $8 netlix subscriptions and letting them have first run movies before blu ray street date. and netflix refuses to have a tiered model

    for $5 or so you can rent almost every new movie after it leaves the theaters and the apps are on most consoles and blu ray players and set top boxes
