  1. 3rd Rock Stays?! on Concerning The Cancellation of Futurama · · Score: 1

Stop pitting Futurama against The Simpons and other cool shows.
For crying out loud, if FOX ever had a wide open time slot it should be 3rd Rock's spot. Does anyone get that show?

So what about high school/college students who are interested in Oracle, SQL Server, Photoshop, Visual Studio, etc.? Even at the "discounted" educational price, most apps are way out of budget for most folks (In high school, I was lucky to have enough for a night of playing pool...College was worse).

Don't ignore the fact that many of these apps cost so much money they make it near impossible for anyone to just "learn the tool." Once they've pirated a copy, they aren't using it to make money, they're learning it so they can get jobs. When they get those jobs, they bring the product to company they work for, and those companies purchase the product and pay up tons of $$ in licensing fees.

Was that pirated copy worth it to the company? Damn right it was.
Was that pirated copy worth it to O'Reily and WROX Press? Damn right it was.

I wonder how many game 3D designers went out and bought Alias or Maya just to see if they had the knack for it? I can't see any of them forking over a few grand just to see, "What does it look like?" That would be a big, resounding, "No."

The thickness varies from about 1/2" to 3/4" thick (at the bottom next to the propellant). Other than that, they're just filled with gunpowder.
At the tip is a fuse (there are too many types to list), and just below that is a small bag of quick burning powder to kick things off.
If this laser is heating things up as hot as they say, that baby is going to blow pretty quick no matter where it's hit.

I have collection of shrapnel I picked up at the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, that's where I got a look at the innards.

As a side note, by themselves they're not all that fragile. Go ahead and take this personally Mr. "I'm a professional and I don't appreciate...blah." BS. We're all professionals, but this is our passion, and our hobby.
Let's see CNN, MSN, BBC, etc. start charging for their content, hell, they even own most of it. Count how many seconds it takes for their site to dissapear faster than Napster. They're web sites are simply a supplement, or 'additional feature' to their revenue generating machines.
So how do you start charging for a site? Well, money is often exchanged for goods and services. So smart guys, offer a #$*@'in service. Make sure it doesn't suck, most small business ventures fail you know...
Best example in recent history goes to, believe it or not, Old Man Murray. Rather than begging for PayPal, they went out and made something, silly as it may be. Nevertheless, I'll bet they've raked in more $$ than all of the "Please make a donation to keep us alive" sites combined. Kudos hombres, good work.
