SJWism *did* kill Star Wars. This was not even Rian Johnson's film. It was really Kathleen Kennedy's movie where she micromanaged Rian Johnson into making a movie with social justice agendas - instead of an old fashioned "space opera" that the traditional fan would go out and spend money on.

I say "traditional fan" because Kathleen Kennedy et al do not want these people as customers anymore. The customers they really want are the ones that they are virtue signaling to.

The same miserable recipe is now being used with the new Doctor Who, which is suffering through its every growing failures and disappearing fan base. Just so that they might be able to force their social justice agendas on an audience that really doesn't want it, and is leaving as a result.

In other words, again, SJWism is killing anything it touches. Not just some Star Wars films.

And every year we have the vociferous few who will defend their supposed god given right to force everyone into being a nation of clock fiddlers.

Sadly, almost every year about a couple of weeks before DST ends there is some news story about kids being killed walking to school in the dark - because the car driver could not see them on the dark road.

I am quite sure that there are hundreds of people who have died as a result of supposed daylight savings time. This story mentions just one of the problems that could lead to delays with acessing much needed medical records in a timely manner.

Imagine if there would need to be an airline full of people that would be rammed into the ground when the law was written so we all could be forced to fiddle with our clocks. Do you think that the law instituting it would pass then?? Because we've probably lost more lives than that to the ignoble DST since it was passed back in the '70s. It's time to stop listening to the loudmouths and stop
having to put up with their forced stupidity.

It's funded because they know the game is up. The days of unconditional loans for kids to rack up untold tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt will draw to a close one way or another. Because in all truth it probably is less sustainable than fossil fuels even. They will be forced to change their models or go out of business. Just on the fact that many prospective students will increasingly just give up on college all together without even trying because of the worrisome debt problem it will incur.

It will be just like immigration, where it was completely ignored for decades until that one candidate makes it a cornerstone of their campaign (I know Bernie did but Hillary sure seemed to forgot about it fast) and they will make a compelling argument for their election to office.

It is an attempt to justify and keep their dying brick and mortar business (because let's face it that's exactly what it is) with countless layers of costly middle management and extravagant sports programs alive somehow by offering a loss-leader to prospective future wannabe graduates.

If it was an attempt at real reform, the courses would actually count for credit towards a bonafide accredited degree and not "just for fun." Like all things, there's probably a couple exceptions to this last statement, but they will be few and far, far in-between. If any at all.

Let me give you a liberal perspective on this: you are raising a straw man.

Let me give you an independent swing voter perspective. Obama had eight years of inaction concerning immigration following decades of administrations kicking the can down the road, literally.

In that light, Trump runs a campaign on fixing immigration, gets elected - and now Democrats are somehow mad at Trump because he actually wants to fix immigration and enforce the borders??

There comes a point where people look silly. This is one of those times that Democrats really look stupid silly with what essentially amounts to an army of thousands of men marching to the border waving their flags of their countries they are coming from. Then they will demand that they have a right to enter and force their way in - when by any measure of jurisprudence they do not have that legal right.

You know what in a normal world that would be called?? An invasion.

Just a thought, maybe the reason that Republicans control every branch of government is because they are listening to what their constituents are telling them.

Many of which have long wanted effective border enforcement. Which would entail making ICE stronger not abolishing it.

You're forced to parrot that ridiculous idea because it would be a no-story to say that you agree with the president that the border needs enforcing. After all, Obama was separating illegal immigrant kids from their so-called parents - after they were marched through a deadly desert - far longer before Trump decided to run and make immigration an issue after it had been ignored by all for decades.

Who is advocating wide open borders?

Puhleaze. Democratic Socialist darling Ocasio-Cortez put forth the rallying cry two months ago to abolish ICE - which essentially would be the same as if not directly opening the borders. And a bunch of other Democrats could not stumble over each other fast enough to parrot her. It was cringe inducing to say the least it was so ridiculous.

Many Democrats have and now are advocating we welcome what has now become an army of thousands of men (really no women) marching here (in any other reality it would be called an invasion force) into the country because we can absorb them.

I know many people do not bother with mainstream media sources anymore. But you really do need to pull your head out of the sand on this one.

  25. It's worse than that even. A lot of desert regions are a desert for reasons i.e. there is no moisture at all including the air. I happen to live in a desert humidity can typically be 10 to 15 percent. So at what point is the device not economical i.e. it actually is less expensive and more efficient to just haul some water in on a truck?

I personally am glad to see the technology developed and do think it could be useful in some emergency situations. But it would be interesting to understand the economics and maintenance of the device over time better.
