Maybe, maybe not. This might be a smart move. At first I do not think they will make clones. But many people are quite tired of Windows and would give their eye teeth for a more affordable Mac computer.
The fact is that nobody can match intel's spending on new processor technology. So rather than be left in the dust, Apple decided to join the pack.
I do think this means more Apple computers sold in the long run, which is their goal.
Is it a male or a female brain they're simulating?
Well if it's the female brain, then we can count on never understanding how it works. Periodically it will slip from brain simulation to nuke simulation without operator intervention. And there will be condensation forming around the attached webcam for no apparent reason whatsoever.
If it's the male brain, then it will be doing a lot of processing about "free beer".
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.
Good call. Though it is actually saving money because of all the IE exploits you don't have to deal with it. This really is a stand that needs to be taken.
If the website is IE only, it's not a website I will be visiting.
I really amazes me the (unjustified) love affair some people seem to have with IE.
The train leaves the depot and travels east at 50 mph and has two mac users on it and a linux user in the caboose. Another train leaves another depot heading west on the same track at 60 mph with 5 windows users. Which computer user has the virus, and who survives after the crash??
Well, unfortunately Apple does has under the table deals with Microsoft that should prevent them going toe to toe together. Plus theres that ugly episode in the nineties when Apple did license clone makers that undersold their own product.
So for those and other reasons, I (and other posters in this thread) have a hard time believing it.
Generally when you have smoke like that the component that went bad takes a few more with it. So it's hard to justify the hassle fixing. Beyond that, it really is difficult to purchase many of the components inside the monitor unless you have a friend at a service center. Even then the parts can cost more than buying the same monitor used.
Used prices are so good now, that they really are not worth the trouble unless it is a quick and easy fix.
Second, if you look at the diagram you'll see that it is initiated a gun-type trigger
Not necessarily. It could be a different design. But I won't go into detail because there might be Korean old people reading, not that it's a big secret anymore.
A big hang-up is that many of the p-166 have something like 24 megs memory, which is pretty tough with today's software. I have yet to try Slax Linux though.
It's not really extinct. It can be found in California.
No, submitter is right. By time you read the headline everybody will have been out to get one for themselves. It is indeed extinct now.
It was doomed anyway by global warming and whatnot.

Micron is an OEM and in all likelyhood had someone else make them and Micron rebranded the keyboard.
Though I like the idea of a keyboard with no keymarkings, I'm not sure if I am willing to wait for the letters to wear off (though my mom's is that way).
I don't see how decoding the satellite signals should be THAT much more power hungry than decoding MP3 and AAC. Only the receiver itself should be an extra drain, but a passive antenna shouldn't burn that much energy, should it?
Yes, but you're also decoding a couple layers of heavy DRM that requires large CPU horsepower.
Equals battery time of about three minutes. Now we know that Apple would not sell such a device, so that must mean that they have developed a nuke-battery pack that can last a couple of hours.
This advancement in batteries is the breakthrough the planet earth has been waiting for. I hope Steve gets a Nobel for it.
What's also amazing is how Apple has been able to keep it under wraps and out of the blogs for so long.

..one good chuck and the disposal is all paid up :)
Dude, you chuck??? I just leave the tailgate unlatched. Then I do a very hard U-turn and everything is 'recycled'.
I don't think anyone on slashdot has ever thrown a computer away..

hearing that James Spader slept with William Shatner, I don't think I can look at Capt. Kirk in quite the same way again.
So what was it that turned you off, was it the idea of spooning Capt, Kirk, or that he smelled like a lamb sausage???
Ebert is a very good reviewer, and he really knows his stuff about movies.
I doubt it. He gave a thumbs down to "Blade Runner" and a thumbs up to "Weird Science."
Siskel always had a better take on movies. I'm sorry he passed away.

including the very card you used to view this website has its own unique MAC address?
Yes, and my underwear has a tag saying "inspected by number 7", but that doesn't keep me from wearing the underwear.

No, it's 10,000 days. 50 billion, or 50,000 million/5 million. Redo your math.
Five million per day divided into a fifty billion piggy bank is how much?
I get 27 years. But they probably will be able to cover this with earnings, so it could go on indefinitely.
My cat has a fat ass at 17 pounds and is not a good candidate, along with my other cat that is skitterish. So this won't work for them.
I tried the littermaid and it failed miserably.
Back to the drawingboard.
