In a place like Australia, you'd probably get away with a nice strong disclaimer and acceptance of risk by the individual punters. In a place like the US, as vexatiously litigous as you folks are, I'd probably not bother running the event at all, but certainly not without insurance at least!
Nope. Can't say I know what that's like. Switch to firefox. Javascript can't do a damn thing to my browser, except change images. It can't even change the status bar text.
People become attached to celbrities, because a) they are sheep and easy to manipulate en masse, and b) media companies want that, because it increases profits.
Simple. Keep everything you can't download again from the net, on your harddrive, and back that up from time to time. It's the only decent way to go about it these days, with throw-away media produced at such low quality to reduce the costs.
Any slashdotters know if you really can mix stuff in that would make it glow? If so, wouldn't that signifigantly reduce the amount of time it takes to decay, or at least convert a large portion of the escaping energy into visible light?
All Sony players in Australia are region free. Although we cop it regularly from our US corporate overlords (whom I for one do not welcome), every now and then the ACCC actually stands up for us.
Yeah, that's really interesting stuff, except THIS CAR DOESN'T HAVE A FUEL CELL ya flamin' clown. It's a 6 litre v12 converted to burn hyrdogen... regular(ish) old ICE, new fuel.
A 200mhz palm emulating an amiga? Funniest. Post. Evar. In order to emulate all the funky custom chips in an amiga properly, you're looking at a helluva lot more than 200mhz. UAE needs about 800mhz to do it properly, and it's been in development for about 8 years.
My housemate's got a nice widescreen, and we watch broadcast tv in "semi-zoom" where you lose maybe 20 lines off the top and bottom, but the bars on the sides are a lot less noticeable:)
Yeah good one mate... Sitting opposite me is a bloke I work with, on his dell with a 17" lcd running at 1600x1200 (or 1600x1040 I can't remember which). Either way, it's definitely 1600 across.
Question - do Americans really put cream in their coffee, or do they just call milk creme if it's going into coffee?
Smithers! Release the robotic Richard Simmons.
1. Make them carry an RFID badge as a condition of entry.
2. Track how much they eat at the caffeteria, or if they go to take a dump
3. Weigh them on the way in, and weight them on the way out.

Not likely, since sydney is The third most litigious city in the world.
Movies? Of what do you speak?
There is only one Highlander film *rocks back and forth*
There is only one Highlander film

Somewhere in the states... Washington, I believe?
Also, in all english speaking countries that aren't bordering with the US, they're pronounced totally differently.

Yeah, what would those dickheads at adobe know about digital photos? Some bloke on slashdot says it won't work, so I guess it'll be a flop.

You're right. It was "secret of the oracle". But I'm still sure it was the one with pong ;-)
It was keen dreams (keen 4) I believe.
I want fake woodgrain on my DS!
Help Me Help Save a Friend [blog-city.com]. Really.
My eyes! The goggles do nothing!
These are breasts; this is source code. Why do you have a problem with those two things belonging to one person?
Love, this is slashdot, we've all got breasts.
Greatest. Response. Evar.
