Even if they don't help alot, they would help some, I suppose. Its not the total answer, but any way to not buy oil from the mideast is a good thing. The sooner we stop buying oil, the sooner the middle east will lose their income.

Well, I actually read that whole document at that link you posted. for a document that alleged 19 war crimes, there are only 11 references, and it is filled with sentences like:

"Persons were killed, assaulted, tortured, illegally detained and prosecuted, harassed and humiliated as a result of these policies."

that do not have any direct proof attached to them. In fact, no proof is offered for most of the allegations in the document.

And it also says that the US fighting a small country is a war crime. Iraq had the 4th largest army in 1991, it is hardly a small, defensless country back then.

And of course, no one thinks that the millions and millions of people who died at the hands of Stalin during the 20th century is a war crime. And the millions of muslims that Saddam has murdered is a war crime. And of course China always mentions that they reserve the right to take back Taiwan by force someday, but no one accuses them of warmongering, or attacking a defenseless nation.

And this report is written by a very left-wing, liberal attorney, who worked in the Johnson administration. Not that liberals don't tell the truth, but it is worth noting, especially when every link to a conservative newspaper is replied with about 10 responses saying how that newspaper is a right-wing publication.

I totally agree with you. I would like to see our foreign dependence on oil removed, especially in the middle-east. Doing this would remove almost all clout that they have in the world, and allow them to just meddle with each other, instead of messing around with us, and we could just ignore them, instead of bowing to them.

I am a conservative, and a republican, and I think that there has to be a two-pronged approach, as you mentioned. Let's solve the problem in the short-term (ANWAR drilling), and solve the problem in the long-term (finding alternatives to oil). The US has always been a leader in developing new science and engineering, and we should make it a national priority (like the manhatten project or apollo) to find the long-term solution.

Once the oil demand backs off, the mid-east can whither itself back into the middle ages for all I care...

I know I may get flamed for this, but I think the best people to email are either Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. You can email them here:

    oreilly@foxnews.com

I know you may not agree with either of these guys, but when they make a stink about something, people usually listen. The democrats are not going to help in this. The news media is not going to help. Both groups are for this legislation. Talk radio and conservatives can help.

do you really think bush is going to sign this?? Think of all the times that the entertainment industry makes fun of him. There's no way he would sign this to help him, he could care less about them. But it doesn't hurt to let people know the crap they are trying to pull.
