I think that for such a price, you do not only get a piece of hardware, running a piece of OS with various pieces of software on it, which may account for $40,000 or something, but you also get support, based on a good service level agreement. For businesses, good guaranteed support is worth much more then just hardware and os.
Mind sports already have their own "Olympic games" : see The Mind Sport Olympics. Not only for chess, but also numerous other mind sport games, and variations on them. A bit redundant to put them into the "official" olympics too.
Then again, think of the possibilities for expanded paralympics: chess-matches for people with IQ lower then 120.....
The one book that really helped my develop a good posture while computing was "Compute in Comfort : A 5-Minute-A-Day Guide to Pain-Free Computing Using Body Awareness Training" by Paul Linden. This book focusses on good posture by increasing your awareness of your body. This really helps because instead of raising your monitor because book this and article that say that it should be at this height, you will find yourself raising your monitor because you feel that it is better for your neck and back. Funny thing is, although this book is directed at computing, it also did wonders for improving the way I walk and stand still.
Dreamcatcher was a nice story, but not quite original. The idea of a mind captured by another entity has already been handled in "Desperation" and "The Regulators". This also applies to the fact that main characters from these books with strongest mental capabilities are people which are usually regarded as "mentally handicapped" people in real life (autistic/down syndrome). All in all, a nice book to read, but I am still waiting for the next "tower" book:)
Perhaps this is caused because perens, as translated as "travelling" would be a verb (participium preasens ?). You'd have to look for perere or perare. The official translation with participium praesens of Bruce Perens then would become "Bruce, who is travelling". This is usually abbreviated to travelling Bruce.
Unfortunately I do not have my dictionary by hand atm, so if anyone would like to check those possibilities.
With all kinds of information coming at them, kids hardly get the time to be kids any more. Instead, they are seen as small adults. Tv commercials directed at kids, people like you who think kids have a right to see all there is. Heck, that sad story about that 13 year old yesterday is an example of a kid no being able to fully act as an adult. Just let them have a few years of having a relatively undisturbed life, they'll have plenty of years as an adult to see all they would ever want.
Btw, as a college graduate working for a major university, you should be aware that you are not 100% mr joe average. If your life turned out all right, good for you, but please don't assume that everyone will turn out in the same way.
You can't and it isn't something they did, as is obvious from the article. They are not patenting magnetism, but the process of making very good permanent magnets. Read the article, then troll on.
Basically, that is the point that the company is making: they have contacted the companies that are now being sued, and have gotten no response. You then have evidence that those companies knowingly "forgot" about your patent.
By the way, as some previous poster suggested, this company is not trying to patent the laws of physics, but a method of producing magnets. Thinking this would be the same is like saying that you are patenting sex when you patent the method to produce viagra. (so THAT was what Morpheus was talking about when he spoke about the blue pill....)
Plans to blow up asteroids always sound cool, but it's best to assume the worst. So stop drooling over those cool nukes, and prepare for what could be the most important task once you are the last male of female on this rock.
Besides being easy to install an use, mandrake also provides good manuals and online tutorials. Check out their online tutorial for setting up a ppp connection for example. Some of you may find these tutorials trivial perhaps, but this is the stuff that will lure beginning computer users away from M$, since it effectively remove the fear of "doing something wrong".
a disregarded theory first postulated by Einstein...
Unfortunately Einstein wasnt around to see Star Wars. Plenty of people showing "negative gravity" all around.

Maybe the tags Microsoft created were *Really* smart tags and they self-destructed while contemplating the meaning of their life...
>what else would explain it? an act of god? :)
root@earth/quake +connect lochness.uk
Such a robot would remove the need for Viagra though....

Maybe this will lead to another space race. I can already picture G.W.Bush saying,'The first man on Mars will be an AMERICAN man, not a kangaroo!'.
Considering Bush, he'd say something along the lines of: 'The first man on Mars will be an AMERICAN man, not some aussie elephant!'
In Hindu, "New Oh Ess" or "Newoess" means "one who makes false promises."
I thought "Newoess" was wookie for "You can kiss my furry little butt"....

Like duh.. buy a pinky and a thumb, you see little kids telephoning with those two fingers all the time.

The netscape version (4.07) I use at work uses gesture recognition for ages. It crashes every time I give it the finger...
