  1. Re:Could have just said 'tracking cattle' on RFID Tattoo for Tracking Cattle and Humans · · Score: 2, Informative

If you RTFA, you will note that the RFID tag is only readable from "Up to four feet away". Somehow I don't think that really counts as a great distance.
When's the last time you saw a doorway over 4-feet wide? Unless you plan on staying in the wide-open spaces the rest of your life, you're going to be scanned and tracked. All it takes is a simple scanning device and a building entrance. They already have tags and scanners at doors for tracking stolen, they just add a new scanner that tracks RFID and viola`. We track and store that data, throw it into a database maybe link a couple of other databases together and now we know where you are, who you're with and what you're buying--all the time... But you don't care, it's not like you're a criminal or a terrorist or anything..

If they teamed up with Mozilla, they would save development costs, have a robust product already with a niche in the marketplace and also avoid alot of potential snags with P.R. and market perception.

I think the last thing that Google would want to do is be compared (or percieved threat...) to MS with thier own browser, search engine, maps, etc. What would be next? GoogleOS?

Something like that would give MS the perfect reason to 'lean on' Google, and perhaps even get some other companies who see an emerging threat to join in.

Supposedly, the FCC can censor and fine because they are 'moderating' the public airwaves.

What happens when the internet is a 'public' service? Will obscene/controversial/pr0n materials be subject to censorship and/or fining because they offend the public? (Like Stern, Bubba the Love Sponge, Janet's b00bie, etc?)

In which case, I (and many internet users) would opt to *pay* for unfiltered/moderated internet access. So what's the point beside giving the government another entity to spend money on and more power to control what people see, hear and read?

I used to think it was a good idea. Then the the rapid FCC started throwing it's weight around. Then congress and the FCC started talking about regulating cable and sattelite radio for decency. Now I am just paranoid of another piece of government regulation.

Remember, the Chinese are trying their damndest to regulate the internet, too!
