Stratton Sclavos, chief executive of VeriSign Inc., told investors in a conference call last month that the company might relaunch its "Site Finder" service as early as April.
Obviously, since VeriSign has just proven they
are not competent enough to use a calendar,
clearly they are not competent enough to run DNS.
Not to mention that since pigeons are smart,
and they know they were wired for the study,
why would they give away their navigation
secrets for free? Much easier to fool the
humans by appearing to follow landmarks such
as roads since the pigeons know that humans
can relate to that!
Whomever moderated parent needs to get a clue.
It was the *military* that said Bin Laden would
be captured before the election. Don't you see
that the *military* would stand to gain budget-wise
if the NASA budget was trimmed?
Sorry, but if your idea of an uber-machine is to be sans floppy, then all you/they really want is a network computer/appliance - not a true general purpose machine. The general public has no idea why they would want a floppy because they rarely if ever use a floppy.
But the reality is, they really are damn handy. Where else can you take a *writable and bootable medium* (WBM) and boot it on machine 'A', modify files on the same WBM on 'A', then boot the same WBM on machine 'B', and have it self-diagnose/repair on machine 'B', writing results to said WBM, and then removing the WBM from 'B', booting same WBM on machine 'A', and reviewing diagnostic results on said WBM? All in 5 minutes or less?
You *can* make a grilled chesse sandwich with your
HP printer. You just have to pre-heat it properly.
The tricky part is cleaning up the butter residue.
Based upon the lessons learned from prior missions,
others could be encouraged. But, based upon
the numerous failures, just as easily discouraged.
Then when you factor in the costs involved, you
certainly can argue against it.
What Spirit and Opportunity
discover will probably be the main factor.
Why? Really, why? Why is this story even here
on Slashdot? Why not cover more important
things like the fact that the Pentagon has
scrapped Internet Voting today?

SCO obviously does not care about being forewarned,
and wants to milk this for all they can.
From the article:
"While we expect this attack to continue throughout the next few weeks, we have a series of contingency plans to deal with this problem and we will begin communicating those plans on Monday morning," Jeff Carlon, worldwide director of Information Technology infrastructure, The SCO Group, said in the statement.
NOTE TO SCO: You don't have to communicate any
series of contingency plans to anyone except
your own IT staff (if you have any left).
Any press releases from SCO will be
obvious FUD and will not mean a damn thing.
Microsoft can funnel money to SCO via 'licenses'
to fuel the SCO FUD machine. But in the end,
Microsoft won't be liable for any counter-suits.
At some point (likely when Intel and MS are ready
with Longhorn), SCO will be allowed to die, making
the countersuits moot.
SCO is just a soldier in the war, totally expendable.
It's probably worse if you steal it, open it,
never watch it, and then un-steal it.
You know how those retailers don't like returns
even if you help keep their
inventory database correct.
And when that happens (if it does), the true Internet will come back using 'normal' routers and ppp.
Heh. Good one. At least it wasn't goat related. But damn, it would have been a good thing (tm) if Verisign had done it early.

Liar!
Except that SCO wants a jury trial.
Didn't think so.

Bin Laden will be absolutely, positively found and captured *before* the election. Bet on it.
Yes, sounds workable with kexec.

According to Julie, she learned very little the last time she used Gopher,
but she was desperate as Doc and Captain Stubing were busy.

This is not really news, as it has occured previously.
Unfortunately, likely the best recommendation you'll receive.

Don't count on that. It's all about money, and MS has too much to not buy influence.
Make sure you have preempt enabled in your kernel.
Hey, give the EU some credit. At least they are imposing a penalty.
Watch for the bulletin about MyDoom next week.
Eventually, you will just get more spam.
