Nope, money loses value during periods of inflaction. Thats what it is, so had you bought something that retained value lets say gold for instance with that 20 in 1970, then turned around and sold it today, it would be worth atleast 100 dollars. (Obviously gold doesn't say completly steady, its value has been going up latly I believe).

Thing is if you add security you would have to add some type of password auth, which of course most customers would have trouble with the simplist kind of auth and return the product or harrass customer support. Apparently the auth in this would be limited to a numeric password printed on the headset box that would have to be entered into the connecting device the first time it communicated.

Good point, I was just stating that sometimes a compromise is nessesary, weither you want one or not. Personally I feel there is no compromise to be had when it comes to extending already existing outragous protections. But possibly some compromise could be made on a world scale. Lets say we strickly enforce copyright in the countries that have no enforcement now. But we reduce all copyright to 10 years. Wonder if the media companies that are losing a lot of money in asia and russia, would consider this a good deal? Yes I know patents are a different story, just an example.

Well historically Republicans have been for personal freedom and economic freedom. It isn't until recently that the neo-con branch has really taken control. It always seemed to me as though abortion was really the issue that drove this initial wedge. As most Republicans free loving and not were against abortion on freedom of the fetus grounds. While the average Republican gave up the fight against abortion around the mid 90's realizing that it had pretty much become defacto law as well as a personal choice dispite its problems. Radical conservatives continued with the issue and expanded into many other moral issues, driving a wedge in the party and forcing themselfs into leadership. Most right of center people, me included no longer consider themselves belonging to the Republican party because of this, though they still generally vote Republican in most elections.

Definatly not free energy. Remember you can get energy out of combining oxygen and hydrogen, thefor it must take atleast that much energy to seperate them. The bateria non withstanding require that energy. As stated in the link they get their energy from the sun. So essentially this is a form of solar energy. So the cost calculations need to be in the form of percentage conversions minus what the bateria itself needs to survive, and cost of building a large enough container to collect sunlight. (And your other factors of course).

If it can beat out existing solar energy I'm all for it, but I doubt it.
