    That's right, and if Bush had lied us into a disasterous war, presided over a torture regime, destroyed Habeus Corpus, run roughshod over a bunch of other cherished civil rights, compromised national security, bungled the war against Al Qaeda and drove federal spending to absurd heights, then he wouldn't have been re-elected, either!

    Why not? Either God's all powerful and making a human from a monkey is exactly as easy as making a human from scratch, or God's not all powerful. Besides, assuming the all-powerful-but-lazy God of your argument, wouldn't creating the universe and just letting life sorta happen be easier than doing it all by hand?

    Anyway, the States have been found to be bound by the bill of rights the same as Congress, so I don't think it matters whether the school is Federally funded or not.

    You are really only out your downpayment, and if interest rates and prices are low, while rent is high, buying saves you money. It's not an investment, it's just a way of not throwing 100% of your housing costs into a hole every month.

    But I agree, the standard middle class attitude in the USA towards owning a house is messed up.

    The linux box I'm posting from, which is a constantly updated Ubuntu, failed to move ahead one hour. What's worse, after playing around for a few minutes I can't find a gui interface to change the time. Granny would be hosed.

    Sid Meir Solved this problem years ago: Have a whole slew of difficulty levels from braindead to impossible. Somehow I doubt he needed much math for the easiest Pirates! level, where it's nearly impossible to lose in any situation, and in a few minutes play time you are god of the sea.

    Not one of my friends has HBO and none of us had heard of Borat before about August this year. You could compare the audience of the Borat the movie to the number of people that had even heard of him, much less watched the Ali G show, and conclude that Borat is new thing embraced by movie goers.
