Honestly, people are so taken over with consumerism. Do you NEED all that stuff, as the parent mesg states. Why not read a book - it'll certainly sound/look better if you're going to try and meet some members of the opposite sex. Read a book/newspaper. You are doing all of this stuff which isolates you from other people (can't hear anyone 'cause I've have my iPOD, can't see anyone 'cause I'm playing my gameboy).
Try interacting with people, usually they're much more fun than the things on your belt.
This one happened to my Dad.

How Were You Fired?

happened about 25-30 years ago. His company ITT was closing/rearranging some departments. My Dad gets a call - we're moving you to a new department. OK, my Dad says. PHB says "But we have to get rid of your old section - can you fire them since they're your people."
So my Dad has to fire about 10-15 people - friends of his, etc.
End of the day, the PHB asks how it went, finds out everyone has been fired, and then FIRES my Dad, after making HIM fire everyone. What a cowardly prick the PHB was.
Well, I guess this is slashdot and people feel the need to post opinions without even reading the subject material. Almost ALL of the parents questions were answered in the PDF file both linked above and in the hosts website.
Horseshoe crab blood makes use of a copper based heme group to carry oxygen as opposed to an iron based one that the majority of animals(and we) use. Ceruloplasm as stated above does have a nice blue color to it, which Mr Spock (being a Vulcan and having a supposedly copper based green blod) would be surprised to find out.
Honestly, that kinda of cutsie-poo looking stuff probably won't do to well in the US - just because most guys aren't going to feel to macho playing with these characters that look like dolls for 6 year old girls. Hell I even feel kinda wimpy just having it up on my browser.
But seriuosly, the artwork will have to be redesigned if it is going to sell in the US market - maybe in ten years when Americans are more used to seeing this kinda stuff, but not right now. We're still into splatter/gib fests like quake/2/3 1/2life and so on.
10 meter blades that they have are spinning quite slowly - I'm sure the fish could easily swim out of the way. I'm sure they also wanted to avoid seaweed and have some sort of filter/fence to prevent stuff from clogging up the blade.
I think that code auditing IS going on, and that's why they're noticing these security holes. This is something that an auditor found - there have not (at least to my knowlege) been any crack ins/compromises due to this.
I used to work at the National Institutes of Ageing at the NIH in Bethesda MD, with the research scientists who pioneered this area of research. What they found was that lifetime TOTAL oygen consumption for the "starvation" group of rats and the normal diet rats were the same. In other words the rats/mice had a limited amount of oxygen that they could consume in their lifetime before they diet, got cancer, etc.. They could use it up faster by proessing the normal amount of food, or use it up at a slower rate with the calorie restricted diet. Oddly enough, it reminded me of Bladerunner, and the replicants -where Rutger Hauer gives his speech about life - you can burn slowly for a long time, or blaze brighlty for a short time.
Oxygen is a pretty harsh molecule/element/radical, and their hypothesis was that it basically damaged the cells/DNA - so the more you received of it, the more oxidation damage your cells received. They did not look into the effects of exercise when I was there.
Come on guy, are you really that broke, that you can't pay the $25 to get wineX - that's like the price of 4-5 beers in a bar when you go out at night! I mean the guys at Transgaming aren't exactly a big evil corporation and this is why Linux is having a hard time, and why YOU have to resort to unfortunate solutions like Transgaming. They need money! I'd like to see the company continue, because I like it! - but Transgaming, may not survive if peope like you continue to steal/don't support them.
Well, he's right about not being able to autoclave the phone, since the plastic might melt, electronics get wet.
As far as METALS not being able to withstand the heat? WTF? autoclaves only get to around 120 deg C and 10-15 atmospheres - pretty much ANY metal can withstand that - except I guess mercury;-)
As far as sterilizing non-heat safe stuff, there is ethylene-oxide sterilization available - it's how most of our delicate electronic stuff (arthroscopy cameras, lenses, etc) is sterilized - lots o' nooks and crannies, but that's not a problem for gas anyway.
I easily passed thru security while wearing a slightly bulky jacket with a Beluga Whale tucked under my armpit. My friend got stopped for trying to bring on his 157mm howitzer though...
The obligatory Minority Report reference here for future advertising. Now with RFID technology, adds can be specifically directed at individuals. Brrrr.
I don't think this will be useful for surgeons. We learn the best way possible - you stick your hands right into the action (under the guidance of the attending surgeon, of course).
It's only a 2D image anyway, and it appears to me that it's main difference is that it doesn't need a screen. There is no surgeon in the world that I know of, that would obscure the surgical field with yet another thing to block their vision. So if applicable to learning surgery, it would have to be in a non-operative setting, and so not having a screen isn't very important at all.
There are many other things of much more importance to a budding surgeon - such as the organ texture, learning how to suture, trying to identify the diseased thing that you're holding in your hand, how things behave, etc. No one in the surgical field will bother with this, I don't think I would and I love computers/gadgets. Sorry.

I guess if you had a rather large gravity well and could curve the light back at the source, you could make it do a 180 deg turn and thus see the past. We just have to find the right black hole and look close to it.
He wanted to get enough money to buy the box seat right in back of home plate, and fill it with all sorts of freaks, transvestites, dwarfs, Beetlejuice, and hideously ugly people. That way you would see these people everytime they showed a guy at bat. I still laugh everytime I think of it.
I totally agree with your point. If that's what they need to do to keep in business, then why not throw a few adds in the FREE DOWNLOADABLE version of Mandrake, and keep the purchased "official" product add-free. Mandrake is a good starting point for converts from Windows.
TV/Radio is largely supported by adds, but people aren't boycotting that - although if Mandrake starts showing adds every 15 minutes, I'll look elsewhere:-D Most of the stuff sounds pretty easy to change anyway, web browser default startup page and bookmarks, etc. ANd come on - how often do you INSTALL your OS (well with windows - at least 1x per year)..
It's not a gaming card, but it's primarily for CAD/AM stuff. It's loosely based on an older gaming card, and that's why they decided on a whim to try out UT2003, etc.
Uh, the Veterans Administration (VA) is one of the largest Health care organizations in the nation and it has used a TOTALLY ELECTRONIC medical record system for about 6 years now. NO PAPER PATIENT CHARTS at all!- everything from clinic visits, operative notes, and most prescriptions are done electronically.
Many university hospitals and other large hospitals all have some sort of electronic record system, and many are converting to an all electronic system.
I am not aware of any that are open source, Most I imagine, as everything is in medicine, has to be tested relentlessly and thus is costly and a real pain in the butt to get certified for new security regulations.
From a doctors viewpoint (mine), they are a pain to use - they slow you down, patients wait LONGER!. It's much easier to dictate and have the secretary slip the note into the chart. A positive aspect of the EMRs is that charts don't get lost (yah, but computers crash). Many of the younger doctors are used to EMRs and will probably goto that in their private offices, 'cause they're used to it. I could go on for hours, but I'll stop here.
Newsbrief (Redmond):... A bold, new plan by the company formerly known as Microsoft has taken place. In an attempt to calm growing fears about the lack of security with Microsoft products, Microsoft has decided to rename itself to.....Linnux!. This is a dual strategy aimed at improving Microsofts own image while at the same time through FUD, will decrease the publics perception of Linux a a more secure platform.....

"Oops sorry, the DHCP must have reassigned that address,we THOUGHT it was the one you wanted...Sorry."
This would let their customers still enjoy what they initially signed up for (filesharing, you've seen the adds, etc.)
