If things like this destroy the credibility of the Linux community in general then why is the credibility of MS so great? They have been doing this for years and years, and still people use their software. I think the problem is that the Linux community needs to be bad for people to like it. For some reason people like bad over good.
Myself, I like good over bad, and I dont mind that the Linux community is small. Hell, I think that the Linux community is too big right now. Dont you know that small communities are far better than large ones. Take slashdot for example. It used to be good, but now its full of people crying because we make fun of MS.
I really like the BSD system, but I dont like download, compiling and installing 100's of MBs of software. I'll stick with Debian, but I'll switch to DebianBSD when its working well. Long live APT.
I used FreeBSD for a while a few months back. It was faster and more stable system. My problem is that it is way harder to maintain than my Debian Linux system. Take installing apps. I would use the package add system, but the apps are not there. I use the ports but it takes forever. You have to download the source, compile it, install it. Then if you want to upgrade it you have to wait again. It was taking about 5 hours to do a upgrade on my box each time I wanted to upgrade. (I know, I was using it as a workstation and not a server) With Debian I can have my apps upgraded in a few minutes.
Funny thing is, I just hired someone and they did not show up for their first day of work. I have been looking for a web graphics guy for 2 months. Its not that there are no jobs, its that people dont want to work.
I'm running FreeBSD 4.4 on my other partition. Its a very nice system. Takes forever to install anything. Download, Compile, Install. It does run fast though. I've been using portupgrade --all and now my system is hosed. A lot of programs are telling me they are compile with old libs and new libs are being used. Nothing runs anymore. I'm still new to it, so its prolly something I did. I run Debian for my stable systems. You can install a clean system, just the things you want. Then you can add a program and remove it with nothing to clean up later. I am trying to stay with FreeBSD because its really cool and fast, but if I can't keep it running I will just use what works. Debian, just apt-get it.
Just remove the Sony software, port Linux to it, and write new software. Totally hackable again! If you dont use their software your not breaking their copyrights.
The #billennium was cool except for the nazi bastard ops that whined about flooding in a room of 500 people. Bans and Mutes were thrown around left and right. I liked seeing the cowsay with the count down in it. It was so packed that you could not read anything anyway. It was a party dammit. I can see at the end when the servers started puking, but like way way before, that was lame.
Just for the record, I go down to the store and buy a CD. I rip it to mp3. Then I take the CD back to the store. After that, I give out copies of the MP3's to all my friends.
If I could do it with DVD's I would, but I do not have that much space on my HDD to be ripping DVD with good quality.
There is no reason that this stuff should cost as much as it does, and there is no reason for the RIAA to be such ass holes.
Oh, one more thing. I ride a skateboard, so already I am a criminal.
Yeah, I can name one.
www.newhomebids.com.
That is one, and its almost all ActiveX crap. You have to be a member to use it, and you have to download a bunch of crap, even a browser. --

Debian developers should all move to an island. One that has nice weather and lots of bandwidth. Then they wont have to go anywhere to meet. The plus side is that Debian will get really good really fast. I'm all for it!
I would like to see a option to filter out the onLoad and onClose javascript. I use pop-ups in a lot of web applications, so I would like to keep that feature.
It will drive you crazy. I just want an option on my browser for it not to run the onLoad / onClose javascript only. I hate that damm browser take over shit.
I read it, and I do not see anything wrong with it. They seem to understand the GPL and OSS. GPL is a virus. Thats the way it was made. Programmers give away their work to better their fellow man. This does not mean that programmers are required to write GPL work. They never even said that. They were just making aware that GPL is for non-profit / freeware. I dont see anything wrong with selling software, or closed source. (I wont use it, but nothing wrong with it.) If I want to sell some code, then I'll write it and sell it. If I want to give it away, then I will GPL it. I believe that they were not wrong about anything they said. I did not see any lie's or FUD. I only seen GPL is not for profit, MS is not GPL. --

I worked for a company once building Linux appliance servers. For Comdex one year we were going to give away a toaster.appliance. We even did a webpage for it. (didn't even make it on slashdot). I still have the web page running over here. It was cool. --

I went like:
debian(95) -> slack(96) -> debian(96) -> redhat(97) -> debian(97) -> freebsd(01) -> debian(01).

I have his resume in my mail archives also.

Its to a personal email address that I never use at all for the past few years.
I'm waiting for the vim interface to galeon or some other browser.

I'm running Mozilla on Linux and I use:
Mozilla Open Source (compatible; MSIE 6.0 is a pile of shit; Fuck Microsoft)
I get in just fine.
Mjolnir
There is nothing else more impressive than this.
If only I can figure out how to restore my Norton Backups of my old WWIV BBS. I wonder what texts and files lurk in there...
My copy of Norton Backup is long gone, and I can't find any info from Norton about how to restore it. One day though...
Its all about the Visor Phone. Nothing else will do. Why type when you can write. Plus the added memory and sync with your computer.

This will not work. How is your worm going to spread if you fix the system?

Blaaa, didn't work for the onunload, but I think its working for the onload though... it seems...

Yes! I think I figured it out!
I added to my Mozilla prefs.js file:
user_pref("capability.policy.default.onLoad", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.onUnLoad", "noAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.default.onClose", "noAccess");
And now I dont get them stupid onLoad popups!

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Too bad their documentation still sucks. At least Postgres has really good docs.

A friend of mine got CTS from fishing. He does not even touch a computer or keyboard. So this is not just a computer user problem.

Why do people do it? I dont know.
