The GP is right, why shouldn't you be allowed to use a team mate shoulders to get a bunk-up?
Here's a favourite quote for me:
Other gamers give themselves an edge by using a mouse and/or keyboard with today's USB-friendly consoles, which increases accuracy and cuts response time--it can be an insurmountable advantage. But, as one anonymous cheater explains, "It's not illegal--it's just using the best equipment available. Anyone can do it."
Then there's a problem *if* the system isn't capable of what's been shown.
In the case of the PS3 though, the tech demos (but not all, or even most, of the game demos) were running on a prototype. Unless Sony are outright lying of course.
Nope, because Darwin already runs on more than just Mac hardware, and that's where the drivers live.
I would be *very* suprised if OSXX86 (heh) can't be made to run on standard PC hardware. It will be against the license, and it won't be plug and play, but I'm 99% sure it'll be possible.
Tech demos are always sans physics / AI etc. That's standard and you have to take it into account when viewing them. Especially if they're not showing in game graphics, like the head demo. A fair complaint is when the system simply can't recreate the tech demo. That's cheating. But if the system can run the demo then all's fair.
1. No 2. That would be interesting, although it's likely to face similar problems to regular WINE. Perhaps they could join the WINE development effort though. 3. I'd say there'd still be room for it, as even if the processor changes there would still be differences in the architecture between Mac and PC.
that's how much the image is updated a second, which isn't quite the same with lcd. with crts there's dimming between refreshes, there's not quite the smae effect with lcd, so you get much less flicker, although not a higher framerate.
I bought both, and ended up ditching my PS2. A significant part of that decision, in the light of relatively similar lineup of games that I actually wanted was the graphics. That and having a modded xbox running xbox media centre playing divxs from my home server..
Easiest (although potentially very slow) way is if you have access to an IMAP server, upload all your local mail (assuming you're using POP or just collecting from your mbox) to the IMAP server from Evolution, then download again in Thunderbird.
My high score was more than double any published in st format's 'send us your llamatron scores', including jeff minter's. i was so proud:p (maybe i still am a bit... maybe..)
so can you explain this paragraph from the preamble in the gpl2?:
Finally, any free program is threatened constantly by software patents. We wish to avoid the danger that redistributors of a free program will individually obtain patent licenses, in effect making the program proprietary. To prevent this, we have made it clear that any patent must be licensed for everyone's free use or not licensed at all.
As far as I understand it, the GPL has a clause saying that any patents that cover the code being distributed must be licensed for everyone's free use. That's not the case with Microsoft's shared source.
Ah.. I was replying to someone who was implying it was a rip-off...

Not *gasp!* a keyboard and mouse!
Open Source software is a rip-off?
rm -rf http:///
;)
assuming http is mounted as a writeable filesystem.
i had a sweater printed with this on it.. i don't like html much
lemons!
funny but...
:)
the server's still responding, just very slowly
They're dumping Open Firmware actually.
And as for chips on the motherboard... erm yes....
Darwin is the core operating system, which is where the drivers for all the hardware live. Things like Cocoa and Aqua are layers atop that.
Darwin already runs on beige box PCs.

Supposing this were to happen, I'd say:
1. No

.. and there was me thinking it was going to be actual games journalists.
If I wanted uninformed opinion on games from random people on the net I'd go to Slashdot.
Oh wait..
Way to pave over a whole raft of philosophical discussion. :D
That's what Unreal Engine 3 games are going to look like.
The Unreal Tournement 2007 tech demo for the PS3 was equally impressive technically.
The artwork for Gears of War is particularly impressive though.
You're far from the only one.
I disliked it so much that I didn't buy HL2, and I'd been waiting for it for ages..
Graphics aren't that insignificant.

... although that's just for moving your mail of course. I don't know of any tools for migrating anything else from evo to t-bird I'm afraid.

Quite...
And now Quake 4 is to be SP focussed... What is the world coming to?

2001..
:)
Do I get a prize for it being a geeky film reference?
I thought there'd been monitors out that do this for a while? Wasn't there a laptop with this tech?
