    Generally, yes. But many tropical systems that affect the eastern US start their formation off the coast of Africa and move East to West.

    Unless you're paying into CA SDI, then you can get 55% of your normal pay for 8 weeks.

    Since I work for the state (UC), I don't pay into SDI and had to use vacation/sick time when my kids were born. However, so did my wife (also a UC employee) once her pregnancy disability leave was up.

    They only interviewed 42 faculty members for this study? Seems like too small of a sample to come to any kind of conclusion.

    Faculty at the large public research university I work at have embraced the technology that has been provided to them.

    they're really going to have to stretch to come up with good reasons ... and you'll be lucky if you get to ride 6 or 8 rides due to the length of lines.

    You gave the reason right there. People with single day tickets would benefit from the ability to reserve/schedule ride times to maximize their time in the park.

    What's more, destruction of hard drives means we have to buy new ones, which is going to cost us a lot of money, particular with prices being so high.

    It should have been part of the contract negotiations that the cost of the HDDs is paid for by the government. If it wasn't your company should still have padded their fee to include this cost. If it wasn't, someone should be fired. You can then destroy the drives as required by the contract and use the salary savings to pay for new drives.

    Not news. I get notifications from the USGS for EQs 6.0+. They've been having 1 or 2 per month since the big one in March. This is the largest since a 7.0 on July 10.

    it's stupid drivers. I drive a 2009 camry, and I have large feet. I have no problems with the placement or shape of the pedals. I also know how to turn the ignition off and shift into neutral.

    I agree with you. This legislation is reason 10394852 that we need to return to a part time legislature in California. Al they should be concerned with is passing a balanced budget. We have enough laws here already. IF something's missing, we have the referendum process (which has it's own problems and needs reform).

    Not very likely. Instead, they use one of the "cable modem" protocols, perhaps DOCSIS.

    U-Verse uses HPNA for the coax networking.
