Please remember that at the time, neither Minix nor BSD was free. If there was a free and open *x out there, Linus would not have needed to write Linux.
More than that; it is time for everyone to come to the aid of the US by (a) doing everything in their power to expel the current regime from power, (b) failing that, decide, en masse, to declare independence, and (c) to fight to defend their freedom at all costs! Were enough people willing and able to "fight the good fight", perhaps something could be done about these fuckwits in Washington.
I'm really only good at one thing, computer-related work. But since I don't have a college degree (issues relating to my Asperger's have made some required classes, such as English 099, next to impossible), no one will even look at me. I don't have on paper what I am able to do, so no one gives a flying fuck... >.;;;;;
You can set it up to look mostly like 5.1 (use text mode; for a 5.0 appearance turn off the drop-down menus), and use the 5.1 keybindings. I find 6's use of F1 for Help more intuitive (it's F3 in 5.x; but in 5.1 it can be configured to use F1), ditto Esc=Cancel vs. F1=Cancel.
I grew up on the GS/OS, and it used spacial browsing in Version 3.1's Finder. (1987) I prefer it because it is what I am already familiar with. (OTOH, Version 1.1's Launcher used a browser metaphor.)
And for some of us, ie., those with Asperger's syndrome, even remedial English (ENG099) can be a killer... it's what forced me out of college. But that doesn't make a person stupid. Einstein couldn't add 2+2.

There is but one reason I use Windows anymore: Virtual Dub. When I'm not working with Virtual Dub and SubStation Alpha (which I run together as one) I run Linux. (The rest of the time, Windows 98SE) (Pro, however: Virtual Dub is GPL.)
When I can fansub without using Windows, I will gladly rm -rf/winc/windows;)
Er, x86? I don't think GNUSTEP works on Darwin yet and that's the closest thing I can think of to OS X on x86. (Best with a Maccy WM... mlvwm seems a bit v0rkz0red though.)
That root canals hurt is an urban legend. I've had a root canal and barely felt a thing. (Although I had a damn good dentist too). Trust me, the after-effects on SCOrdure are going to hurt a lot worse than a root canal if I can help it.;)

Moll.
I can't even get my mic to work on Linux for some reason, hm, maybe it's software, I'm still a bit of a n00b, but that's the first thing I'd need.
FP?

I thought the Sega Genesis could only do 64 of 256 colors.

Power Rangers was based on Kyoryusentai Zyuranger, not (at least directly) Voltron.

They peaked at 5.00... IBM did iirc have a 5.1

You know what I think would be nice?
One button is "menu", one button is "open in same", one button is "open new", and the user can swap all of these around.

Copyright, limited to a reasonable period of time, is guaranteed, not this bullshit that the Berne Convention and Tree Man have led us to.

And kpat is such a good Klondike Solitaire that I downloaded KDE/Cygwin just for it.

Billy Boy and his friends Paul and Monte didn't write Altair BASIC on an actual Altair, you know, they used emulators running on mainframes.

That's free? Where? ;)
Granted, it's only like an alpha or a beta, but it's certainly MacOS X.
