This is silly. There's no need to buy new kneepads every time. One pair will suffice at least for the first few times, provided that you get a decent pair.

  2. Game movie suckage on Upcoming Game Movies And Their Likelihood to Suck · · Score: 2, Insightful

The reason why game/movies suck is the story structure doesn't apply well to both mediums. Games and movies rely on totally different things to attract and hold the interest of the viewer. Often time the only thing either one has going for it is graphics, and we all know that isn't enough to carry a movie or a video game.

  3. Resale, baby on The Top 100 Best-Selling PC Games of the Century · · Score: 1

Console games have a much higher resale value and don't require CD keys. Many PC games register the CD Key to the user, meaning if you buy a used copy you'll have to HOPE the user will give you their login and password.

Also, console games hold their value much longer than do PC games.

  4. Sierra Online Games on How Strategy Guides Affected Gaming · · Score: 1

Remember all the ----- Quest games from back in the day? I never used a strategy guide, but I remember writing the company for hints to get past certain areas. I still have some letters around my parent's house from where I asked them how to get past parts of one of the Manhunter games as well as Gold Rush.

  5. George McFly on Bully Trailer Hits the Web · · Score: 1

I wonder if he gets to save the girl at punch out Biff.

I think this sounds like an awesome and (OMG!) original idea for a game.

There's nothing wrong with fighting back. I'd rather see kids fight back against bullies instead of going nuts and shooting up their schools.

  6. Game writing on Inside the NES Worlds of Power Series · · Score: 1

I once had an idea to do a short story told from the viewpoint of a soldier on the field in one of my favorite Battlefield 1942 maps, but then I thought it about for a while and realized, "Hey, that's farking dumb."

    Ya bunch of f'ing TRACERS!

Seriously...I like them. A slightly cleaner interface with more sculpted graphics. It is more visually appealing and still not too busy. The menu buttons are too big on #3, though.

  8. Re:More industry created crap... on The Rise and Fall of Franchises · · Score: 1

    Bingo!

That's why I still play Civilization III and Battlefield 1942 all the time. They never crash on me and I can depend on them to still be fun.

  9. D&D pulled a 'Windows' on State of the Pen and Paper Industry · · Score: 1

First they make a big deal out of the new rules (3rd Edition = Win98) and we buy all the books, then just a few years later they realize how messed up the 3rd editon is so they put out a 3.5 edition (WinME). That means you get to buy all new books again while your old ones barely fetch half price on eBay.

Maybe we're all just waiting for Version 4.0 (WinXP) to come out and be done with it.

The same goes for movies. You can have the best special effects and the prettiest actors, but if the plot and story are crap, then nobody will want to see it.

This dating site is functional and it does what it is supposed to do. Period.

  12. Overseas sales on Ebay and Microsoft Fight Software Piracy · · Score: 1

  13. Ebooks are gay on eBooks - What's Holding You Back? · · Score: 1

Why would I want to read a book on my PC? If I am sitting at my computer, then I'd rather be playing a game or surfing the web or posting silly replies on Slashdot.

Ebooks lack portability, which sort of defeats the purpose of it being a book in the first place. I don't want to take my laptop into the bathroom, ya know?

I post my short stories online, but most of them can be read in 10 or so minutes. As far as downloading a full length book to read...well...screw that!

  14. Re:Look what happened to King Kong? on George Lucas Predicts Death of Big Budget Movies · · Score: 1

My thoughts exactly. The movie made money, but it wasn't a Titanic killer. I guess they expected to make HUNDREDS of millions in profit, rather than just a couple hundred million. Oh, the humanity!

  15. CGI Catch 22 on George Lucas Predicts Death of Big Budget Movies · · Score: 1

Movies wouldn't be so damn expensive if they didn't have so much CGI. Have you seen the thousands of $$$ that it costs for 1 second of CGI? How many movies would be better with real stunts and real make-up effects rather than CGI?

I happened to like King Kong and Lord of the Rings, for that matter, but both of them were more cartoons than anything else.

  16. Re:The lowdown on Dungeon Masters in Cyberspace · · Score: 1

I don't see any reason to play this game. Especially since I've got a group of real people that play the real deal at least twice a month.

  17. Xbox live sucks ass now on Xbox Live Needs MMOG Overhaul · · Score: 1

It only recognized Xbox 360 games if you want to set up a gamer profile on xbox.com. I wanted to track my BattleFront kills and such. The whole Live Arcade thing is dumb, too. Most of those games or something like them can be played at Shockwave.com.

Shopping on the Internet is like visiting a foreign country. People need to get real familiar with how transactions work, otherwise stay away.

Why create a whole new level of government just because people falls for emails where somebody asks for their ATM pin number?
