I can certainly confirm that X.org, Matrox G550 and DVI output can be achieved. Currently running a dual LCD set-up under Fedora Core 2 with said card.
What you need to do is grab a beta driver from Matrox's site. Although it says it is for XFree86 4.1, 4.2 & 4.3 it works under X.org 6.7. Be aware that there is a bug in the driver that causes X to hang for 30 seconds or so when it first starts up.
Matrox also have a forum to discuss all things Linux and their graphics cards.
One problem with one Linux distribution? Wrong, gnorw, wrong! The latest version of the Linux kernel has a very annoying bug... it doesn't detect correctly your hd's geometry and messes it up so you can't boot up Windows. So using ANY Linux distro with that kernel will give you problems. Maybe RMS introduced it as he wants everything to be GPL... a monopoly in the open source world! So, like Nas says in his "You can" song, read more learn!
Actually, it's the Windows installer that writes the incorrect partition table. When the Linux installer comes along it writes out a correct partition table that then prevents Windows from booting. But don't let the facts get in the way of a rant.:)

Busy setting up a new Linux box, downloaded 2.6.4 less than an hour ago from a local mirror. As it was downloading I was thinking to myself, "I wonder when 2.6.5 is due out?" I'm halfway through configuring it when I noticed a message in an IRC channel that 2.6.5 has just been released.
No mention on the Sourceforge project page of a port to the older EPOC/Symbian OSes. Pity, I would have liked to have PuTTY running on my Psion 5mx.
I currently use Hermes and a direct serial connection to maintain my headless Linux boxes. Psion 5/5mx machines are really good for this with the 640x240 display and keyboard you can type on.
Cobol programmers still don't use algebraic expressions?
Well, there's always the COMPUTE statement, COMPUTE i = i + 1. You can use it to compute any algerbraic expression.
However, using the COBOL keywords for the arithmetic expressions can give you greater control. The DIVIDE statement is quite funky in COBOL. You can do your division, get the integer result, the remainder and handle a divide by zero condition all in one statement.
There are a few other COBOL keywords and statements that allow you to do some funky stuff that you cannot do in other languages.

To a COBOL person, that probably looks as clear as i++;.
That would be ADD 1 TO i in COBOL:)
Yes, I am a COBOL programmer and I had no problem comprehending the script linked to in the grandparent.
If this means I get "Vote for Bush" popups in Australia I'm going to be very upset.
Seems that they don't realise that the first two double-ewes stand for world-wide. Is there any way that the web server can tell which country the request is coming from and not display the ad?
That was the general rule of thumb for the regular RedHat releases but this is the Enterprise edition we're/they're talking about. Besides, RH8 and RH9 have proven themselves to be fairly resiliant.
Isn't this similar to geocaching? Previous /. stories here, here and here.

If you notice at the top of the auction page you must now e-mail to be placed on the pre-approved bidder/buyer list.

Time to grab the latest patch file.
The offer's genuine at www.jellybelly.com. However, clicking on the link for the free sample gives a page about there being no free slots.

International Conference on Functional Programming, in case you were wondering.
Does the Functional Programming part of the name preclude using object-oriented languages I wonder?

IAAM, it would be called a saddle.

Never mind that, imagine Darl trying to get his $699 licence money:
Darl: "Oh yeah? You and whose army?"
Coo, imagine that. Germany, a country in Europe, pushing its home-grown distribution and that of a neighbouring country. Such shocking behaviour!
It's all very nice seeing how the latest and greatest cards perform but how about some test results for older cards.
I prefer to save my pennies and upgrade my graphics card to the one just behind the current generation.
