Not everyone, or even very many, who take a math class become mathematicians. You do know this, right? And even if they do, that still doesn't change the fact that the place to learn "proper" English is English class.
I take it you rarely grade a couple of hundred exams. It makes a huge difference in how long it takes. And believe it or not, if I can choose between spending one or two weeks on grading exams, I choose the former.
Sure, require your stupids to write "properly." Sure, hit them over the head if they don't. But having it effect their math grade doesn't make any sense.
Open source is an idea whose time has come. And it was Victor Hugo who said: "You can't fight an idea whose time has come". Again, I suspect Microsoft knows this. Hence the Novell deal.
I'm a Marxist. I don't know if this will ring true since you're probably not, but... Socialism is an idea whose time has come. It can sure as hell be fought, though. Open source will probably, like socialism, never go away but it can be fought indefinitely. We communists have learned to not talk of inevitability.
I'm sorry, but saying "it's so safe I let my kid compute without antivirus software" will never be a cliché along the lines of "640K should be enough for anybody" or however those went.
Actually, it's a known fact that the #1 thing that gets people to switch to Google for web searching is when they see the accurate and impressive results of their first Google pr0n search.
Very neat and completely useless. I don't know about you guys, but I find it much easier to find my data in my nice hierarchical filesystem than by digging through a garbage can fan full of papers, which is what this GUI simulates.
Being good at math apparently doesn't make you very sensible either.
"In essence, happiness is overrated"
The obvious conclusion is just the opposite.
Anyhow, the question needs to be asked: does a kid have no friends because she concerns herself so much with numbers, or does she concern herself so much with number because she has no friends? Both? Maybe it's being smart and shy that's the kiss of death.
The solution seems simple to me. Move all the extra features to extensions, bundle those extensions with the browser, and turn them on in a "default" installation. Won't confuse your average user and would make the lean-and-meaners happy. Those of us with a bit more knowledge can disable the extensions we don't use, providing a benefit for people like me (and I suspect most others) who don't like to whine about Firefox bloat, but still think no more bloat than necessary is a good idea.
But probably the biggest issue is that Kim Jong-il is a lunatic.
I keep hearing this. It seems that this is one of those things people believe because they also keep hearing this. Is the "Kim Jong-Il is crazy" theory based on the fact that he's short and wears sunglasses or is there something more to it?
Take away my techie creds if you must, but I had no idea before reading this summary what "VOD" or "PVR" stood for. And when did "video camera" stop being acceptable anyhow?
Israel lost because America woke up and realized that the cluster bombs they were shipping to Israel were intended to kill large numbers of civilians.
sounds like wishful thinking. Seriously, that would be wonderfully wonderful, but it hasn't happened. I also think you're making the mistake lots of people make about Vietnam: they think that the anti-war movement ended the war. It may have helped, but the war was ended by the NLF and the Vietnamese people. Same here, Hezbollah "won" the invasion because of Hezbollah and the Lebanese people and their overwhelming support.
How interesting that Hezbollah would have the shortsightedness to let this crucial knowledge publicly available. However, this can be expected when the primary morale boosting for troops and citizens is bragging about your capabilities.
That's their primary moral boosting? Not the idea of protecting their nation against invasion? I suppose the vast majority of Lebanese civilians supported Hezbollah because they were mesmerized by it's boasting?

...Trying to sway pollution from being Protestant?
By making them feel guilty for being pollution and teaching them to abstain from the environment.
... every time you install Vista a penguin loses its wings.
Oh teh noes! Then Tux/Tuxette won't be able to fly!! *sniff*
Phony super legal, counter subversive police force? I'd say they're pretty good at it.
Google pr0n search!

This is not from the Minority Report that was released in 2002. This was shown in shuttle interface in Earth the Final Conflict which aired in 1997.
This type of interface was also in The first $20 millions is the hardest. But that came out in the same year as The Minority report.
Thanks for clearing that up. I guess this is why the call it "news for nerds."

Fuck George W?
Rule #1:
6.0 is the absolute lowest score, reserved for only the absolutely intolerable piles of crap. Regular "bad" games get at least a 7.
Being good at math apparently doesn't make you very sensible either.

Apple is selling ipods with a virus on them and they're taking it as an opportunity to bash Microsoft??
This reminds me of this cartoon I saw. The general message was "the war in Iraq/on Terror is going horribly. This is terrible news for the Democrats!"

shall we call it the IceWeasel debacle?
It's Weaselgate, damnit.
You'd better hope your wife never becomes savvy enough, starts reading Slashdot and reads you putting her down. ;)
Oh, I suppose I could add a "geeks don't have wives/girlfriends" joke... so, here goes: HAHAHA ya rite l0s4r u wish. who is she, ur dog?
Geist is talking about Canada
Where?
Support our troops! These colors don't run! I'm lovin' it! Born in the USA!

I spend all day drinking and never make a cent.
C'mon, don't tell me you've never pressed on a URL on a printed page and expected something to happen.
Hell, I can't remember the last time I looked at a printed page.
Reviews are nice, but the best way to decide what's good is to try them first. Download them via BitTorrent and play them for a while first.
Yup, that's what I do before I "buy" any of my games. Yarrr!
I wish I had mod points for you. However,
