We used these in my Physics (university Calc-based) class... They didn't work very well. We had a lot of issues with them, usually just that some of the clicks wouldn't register on the professor's computer.
We've had SpeakEasy DSL for almost 2 years now - and we also have been very pleased with their service. Although we have had occasional flake-outs with our DSL modem, these were usually due to me having the room too hot. When DSL was flaking out for about a day, we called tech support, they did the standard troubleshooting (what lights are on the modem, etc.). They talked to the people at our local telco and arranged for our circuit to be reprovisioned, whatever that means. After they did that, I think we've only had about 1 or 2 flake-outs in the last month!
Needless to say, we've been really happy with our Speakeasy DSL.
(Sorry about any misspellings / bad grammar - I'm on vacation!:-P )
What about when I have one mail address on my server with a lot of aliases pointing to it? Can I still "forge" the headers to say that it's coming from one of the aliases?
Yes, yes - this really isn't "illegal"... My question is, when does it become illegal?
Actually, he purposely put the "ein" in the sentence "Ich bin ein Berliner". All of the Germans understood what he meant - just foreigners got the wrong message w/ the literal translation.
What he meant was, "I am one _among many_ Berliners".
Remember, WE are the ones who elected
these people, and WE are the ones who will decide if they are re-elected, so they have a great incentive to heed our demands.
The only problem is this: how many people in the *real* world (e.g. non-geeks) actually _care_ about this topic if they do not participate in file-sharing, etc. Chances are, geeks are a minority in the huge group of electors.
Also, many (most?) people will take the position of "if it doesn't affect me, then I don't care."
If enough people DO send letters to their representatives, then hopefully they *will* listen.
Compare 100 people sending letters (probably the ones who care the most) to 5000 people (people who care, but not as much). So, SEND IN THOSE LETTERS!
This would make for some irritating (but effective) advertising. Companies would pay big $$ for ads in the most popular games.
I must say, though I dislike ads as much as most, this is a very good idea.
Now, while playing your favorite shoot-em-up multiplayer game, you'll be forced to look at a 10-second ad for some new snack at the local FoodMartStore (tm).
(In the process, get killed 3 times by the other players!:-P)
Uh, what's the point of a Linux handheld if you can only QuickSync it with a Win 9x/NT/ME computer? I thought the point was that you didn't need any proprietary software!
Really? Mine doesn't roll over:

They did have cool automatic graphs, though.

I actually use "shred" or "fwipe".
:-)
Shred has more options, and I can't remember what's especially cool about fwipe....

Um... This is Slashdot - will that many people consider us geeks as dating material??
(Obligatory smilie here).

Hmm... I seem to remember a certain Descent 3 level named "Novak Corporate Prison"... Maybe that was a foreshadowing of today's events...
:-P
Scary.
Did anyone else think "Front-Side Bus" when they saw the acronym "FSB"???

OK, lots of usable storage space is good, but what about the time epoch? Won't it run out in 2036 or something?
When's that going to be fixed?
Now we can use the new Linux kernel on Alan Cox on-a-Chip!

True, true.
Then let's stick the tubes in his mouth!
Or, we could just squirt the chemicals in his mouth and cause poisoning (I hope).
Great! Now we'll be able to torment CowboyNeal with supercool tubes running across his head, giving him a major ice-cream headache!
