My favorite "invention": I combined a novelty hat/visor thing that was lined with blinkenlights with a box o' Lego bricks. I had several of the Space sets and I was really into Sci-Fi thatnks to Star Wars and the like.
So I built a bar, complete with tables, stools, a bar, and flashing dance lights. I achieved this by ripping the LEDs and battery from the hat and pushing the LEDs into a Technic beam (they fit perfectly)). I even made a battery compartment.
I set it up so the roof was removable for easy play access. I filled it with my space-figs and there was always plenty of cruiser parking out back!
In OS, the plan was to transfer money (sub-cent fractions) from the bank's customers into a central account and let them aggregate. Ignoring plot holes like simply editing the account balance, money in this system can only be in one account at a time. It can go to Peter & friends, the customers, the bank, or the void, but not to more than one at once.
File sharing is making clones, at near-zero cost of something that can very well exist in multiple places at once, without affecting its original owner's or creator's ability to use it.
Note: I understand why unauthorised sharing can be bad, and is immoral. I also see that we desperately need a new system of content distribution that takes into account the new model presented by P2P and customers being able to choose exactly what they want on their own and being able to make informed decisions without the need for a content cartel to tell them how to choose.
Not necessarily...If I have a fair-use protected right (privilege, etc.) to format-shift a CD I purchased, but my CD burner is dead, I can turn to online copies to shift my songs.
I have a right to the song but the person distributing does not have the right to distribute, at least, not on a large scale.
I see no problem with me downloading eps of ATHF as I have all three DVD box sets. But I don't have a working drive to rip with...
Me neither, but then I didn't *buy* the PSP for emu. I expected the great wave of titles hinted at by the large launch to continue for more than a week. Sony goofed on this part, bigtime.
I also use it for a portable MP3 player, since I don't already have one. Portable web surfing is nice in a pinch, and it isn't bad as a USB drive either.
But yeah, it's looking more and more like emu is the PSP's killer app (irony intended).

...and I went through about two months where I only used if for MP3's if at all. The one and only UMD game I own is Untold Legends, which is fun, and I got my money's worth out of it.
However, once I discovered emu and homebrew, I've been using it every day. I have ROMs for all the NES and SNES games I own, and I have the Tenchi no Mon browser and pVNC also. It's amazing driving to work, scanning for networks the whole way...
I feel a little bad for Sony because I only have three more planned UMD game purchases - MGA, GTA and GT4M. Until they deliver the RPG goodness (FF3 and Ultima Exodus is fun enough for now) then I don't think they'll be getting much more money from me.
On PSP purchases anyway. I just bought my 101st PS2 game last week (Atelier Iris)...

What Microsoft is doing is more akin to the strategies used by Sega and Nintendo both for the Genesis, SNES, and NES systems. Remember the 'Core' system that only came with one controller and a game? They also sold them with 2 controllers and a pack in game for more money. BTW, all three of those systems were quite successful.
I'm not sure that's right. The HDD makes a much bigger difference than one controller or two. If devs can choose whether or not to code for it, then it will fracture the market. If they can't, what's the point of the thing?
While I'm indifferent to MS as a console-maker, it's at times like this I'm glad Sony's waiting until MS and Nintendo's dust settles before launch.
Hopefully they will learn from the grievous mistakes of the PS2 launch...
GTA:SA is rated either M or AO, meaning 17+ in the USA.
If anyone UNDER 17 is playing a copy obtained by an underage person, the system failed.
If anyone UNDER 17 is playing a copy obtained by a "legal" of-age person, then that person is presumably guilty of contributing to delinquency or somesuch (IANAL).
As far as I know, Hot Coffee is only accessible through an extra, non-in-game process in any version. Source mod, cheat code, etc. Therefore, anyone accessing Hot Coffee is doing so in circumvention of the standard game code.
Now, after ALL THAT, here's what I want to know...why isn't Hot Coffee (and M-rated gaming in general) treated like drinking? If I drink too muck and then "manslaughter" someone, do I get to finger Corona? No!
In addition to GTA, I'm currently enjoying BloodRayne 2. I'm really enjoying the feeding fatalities. But if I go and slice up some poor schmoe, am I going to sue Majesco or Terminal Reality? No!
What happened to adults taking personal responsibility for their own actions? I should be smart enough and responsible enough to know when I'm taking *any* vice too far. Games, sex, drugs, speeding, etc.

Aha! Very good point. I have a PSX and a PSone but have never bothered opening up the PSone to see its guts or compare them to either of my PS2's.
The PSone was a great move. Original PlayStation numbers took off for a short time when the PSone came out, helping to extend the original's life and keep the market for PlayStation titles viable that much longer.
I do regret that my "South Park" edition PSX died when my kids left it on all night. Dead motor...
PSX - PlayStation eXperimental (allegedly the internal codename used as they converted the failed Nintendo CD project into a console. "PSX" has been refuted by Kutaragi.)
PlayStation - The official name, although the PSX code was used in a lot of mags early on.
PlayStation 2 - Successor to the PS. PS2 is the code for obvious reasons.
PSone - Remodeled version of PlayStation. "one" is used to differentiate the chassis from the older PSX-style.
PSX - Japan-only PS2/DVR hybrid. Don't know what "X" is this time, but eXtended works well...
PStwo - See PSone
PlayStation 3 - Successor to the PS2. PS3 is the code for obvious reasons. One can assume at some point there will be a PSthree version around the time of PS4's launch
Damn, do I hate the look of the 3. And the Spiderman 2 font blows...
Let me help out the averages...I have 96 PS2 games right now (7.jp and the rest.us). Let me keep 5 of those (gotta help Sony!) and the rest of you can split the 91 amonst yourselves.
What does my PS1 collection count towards? Several of my PS1 discs were bought for play on the PS2.

Ummm...you can't play pirated PSP UMD's (yet) but the main focus of these exploits is to allow users to run code from memory stick and not UMD.
Guess what everyone wants to run. ROMs. Lots of ROMs. Genesis, NeoGeo, SNES, Gameboy, etc. And I bet a majority of those ROMs are "unauthorised copies".
Are you asking about the PS3 clustering possibilities because you know about the PS2 cluster at NCSA, or because you think it can be done with Linux on board?
I was all set for a "I find your ideas intriguing and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter." when I decided to JFGI and found the source.
