So I guess American silver eagles, released by the US Mint, are a scam too, since they have a face value of $1, while they are currently trading for about $40?
That demonstrates a clear disjoint from reality. Interestingly, you can't buy them directly from the Mint at face value, either.
lessee,
1. we got a coed-raping bond villain causing the downfall of half the governments in North Africa (remember him?)
2. the President of Egypt is forced out of office by mobs in the street enraged by #1
3. Charlie Sheen reveals himself as the Twelfth Imam to the world. He's also pyrokinetic and an indigo child. Probably sent from the future, too.
4. a record-breaking earthquake hits Japan 5. leading to a record breaking tsunami hitting Japan 6. leading to a record-breaking clusterfuck of a nuclear accident involving four reactors and numerous cooling ponds of radioactive waste -- in Japan.
7. Britain's having a royal wedding
8. Our Nobel Peace prize - winning President is bombing the shit out of Mohammar Ghadaffi in Libya, instigated, once again by J. Assange (see #1) 9. Oh yeah, whoever was in charge of Tunisia was chased out of office by Arab mobs (see #1) 10. And Yemen is following suit. 11. Don't forget open class warfare breaking out in Wisconsin as the Governor there gives those greedy teachers what they got comin' to them. Next up, firefighters and police...
So, by my estimate, we're right on schedule for release of DNF.
Eleventy dozen messages on the first page, NOT A ONE talking about the subject at hand, to whit - the proposed traveling wave reactor design. But plenty of kibitzing about situation in Japan, and detailed misnalysis of various other reactor designs and plain non-nuclear power generation solutions. I guess it was my mistake to not read with a +3 threshold and expect meaningful discourse.
We'll learn from this how to do things better next time. Yeah, sure, most of the problems were financial or political, not engineering. But we can fix those, too.
When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Lad, the strongest castle in all of England.
So if it all melts down into one big blob and sinks into the Earth, why not just leave it there, run some pipes to force in water and some pipes to extract steam, and run generators off that? It's not like you could make the mess any worse, right?
OK, so you'd probably be running radioactive steam through your generator loop, but they have to deal with that with reactors, don't they?
I don't have an issue with nuclear power from a scientific or engineering standpoint.
But, in the real world, the bean-counters and politicians get involved. Corners get cut, procedures get "streamlined" and awkward truths are swept under the rug.
We can build reasonably safe nuclear power plants. We just don't want to invest the money to do so.

who built a what that looks like a what now?
But, do, continue with the belittling of those silly fundamentalists accomplishments.
Project Caret, anyone?

looks like both that bird's transponders are active...
thanks a lot, now I have an image of Bilbo scrambling around some great cave trying to gather niter, charcoal and sulfur like Captain Kirk.
they have iTunes for Linux now? amazing.
what's the link for the repository to point APT at ?
guido punched first.
I've seen it clearly documented in the historical documents.
operation sockingbird?

Remember folks, it's only a genuine Hindenburger if it's made with soylent green. Don't be taken in by cheap imitations.
where's the goatse?! I was promised goatse! Dude, looks like wordpress shut you down. I am disappoint. Troll harder.
Didn't Denzel Washington already do this in movie 2006? What was that movie's name?
heck of a job enabling there, blair1q!
Then we have to worry about "peak nickel".
This is the problem.

Minnesota?
I thought they got all their power from burning teachers.
Okay, so aside from the THREE massive hydrogen gas explosions, the crane accident, and the dozens of injuries, this is all perfectly safe. Gotcha.
Wait, there was a third explosion, aside from the one caused by bablefish ?!
After these idiot time changes, I'm usually dangerously sleep-deprived until about April.
Saint Reagan was right, we should build space based solar power collectors. So we can all go green.
And I can justify my space-nuttery(tm).
(# dead & injured by radiation) / (# dead & injured by (earthquake + tsunami)) = ?
yeah, I thought so...
What is that, some sort of telecom microwave repeater site?
self-reliance is treason against the corporate state.
the slight was intentional.
