    This is what you should expect when you buy something reliant upon cloud services. At some point those cloud services will go away.

    It would be nice if a law could be created that forced anyone offering cloud services to escrow full documentation / source code (including any keys required) to replicate the cloud services to be released into the public domain should the cloud services be stopped.

    Oh great! With the release of this news story the Virginia State Police will feel they need to justify the purchase (rather than admit buying it was a mistake) and will use it whenever they can. It was only used in 12 cases? Wait 6 months and it will be 1,200.

    Why worry about citizen's rights to privacy when you have to justify buying toys!

    Somehow I doubt it... they'll just blame the greedy corporations for doing what capitalist corporations do without recognizing the hypocrisy of loudly complaining about capitalists while staunchly supporting capitalism.

    As she has released her photos into the public domain she has no standing to sue for damages. Getty Images, and anyone else, is free to use the images as they see fit, including selling them.

    But Getty shouldn't be getting away scott free, as the images are in the public domain they have no standing to sue anyone for using the images without a license.

    This is not an area the legal system is setup to handle very well.

But note, the US ballots are much more complex than Canadian ones, not only is the typical US voter voting for President, they are also voting for Senator, Congressman, judges, school boards, Governor, state officials, other local officials, ballot initiatives, etc.

    A friend of mine had colon cancer, clinic visit in morning, straight to hospital for CT scan, and in the operating room that evening. Three (I think) operations and other treatments later and he's now cancer free. Total out of pocket expenses, $0.00.
