That's funny that people are saying that Cisco has such good tech support. I started out as a tech support grunt a few years before the boom, and I turned down a job at Cisco because their pay was ridiculously low. I guess that they got plenty of suckers who wanted to work there just because it was Cisco. If I took a job there at what they wanted to pay me, I wouldn't have given two shits about service.

My point wasn't that EVERYBODY who writes OSS these days is well off or a college kid, just that MOST people are because MOST people are poorer now (especially IT people) than they have been in recent history. Everybody I know is working as hard as they can just to pay their bills. Nobody has time or money to work for free. But then again, I don't know *everybody*.
It's simple. People are poor. They are working to feed their families now. Nobody is interested in coding for free. Mod me down, but it's the fucking truth. The only people writing code for free these days are insanely wealthy introverts (few and far between) and the few college kids that are still supported by mommy and daddy, who also have the attention span of a gnat.
So what I want to know is anything with the Linux kernel good to use, or just SUSE? Call me nuts, but I thought that different distributions using the Linux kernel could be pretty damn different as far as security and stability go.
Running Mac OS X doesn't make me feel my b00bs are any larger. It does, however, make me feel a little freer than the WinDrones of the world.

I am not a biologist, but I have been reading research books, and papers written by people who seem to know what they're talking about (judged based upon correlation with other unrelated studies, if the person(s) doing the research belong to an accredited organization, such as a university, and also seemingly sound research methods otherwise). An afternoon toke could have enough of an effect to allow a person to forget distractions, and just hack away at the task at hand.

What these people offer is VALUE. Your argument is like saying that that $2 hamburger from the drive-through didn't taste good. Well no shit, Sherlock. You get what you pay for. Executives know this. If they only need some software to function for a year or two, or it doesn't have to be 100% bug free, then why spend all of that $$ on a US programmer? Good IT people have their place, but where ever you fall in the food chain, cheap and quick or expensive and solid, you still have to offer VALUE.
I happen to remember reading here when Gartner said, "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GET RID OF ALL IIS INSTALLATIONS" that everybody agreed with Gartner. They're not in any way pro-MS.

Besides, it's expensive getting metals out of the earth (as in mining them). Doesn't it make more sense to save money and recycle them?
If it did, there'd be a recycling station on every corner. So obviously, no, it's still cheaper to mine for "new" metal than to recycle.
