I found the Freevo screenshots but one thing that home-grown media players that act as PVRs lack is a way to interract with cable-boxes. If you live in a region that scrambles the signal, and requires that the cable-box channel be changed to feed an unscrambled signal to the TiVo/Freevo/ReplayTV, you'll need a way for that box to send an IR signal to the cable-box. I'm unaware of any home-grown solutions that do this or even have it on their radar.
...if the IRS knows how much I owe them, or how much they owe me, why don't they just send me a bill or a check. I mean, not that I really entirely trust them to send me a bill or a check... but you've got to figure... if they're really checking things... and you file an amount that's not close to what they expect, they're going to send their agents after you. Save me the time... send me a bill.
I just swapped a new drive into my series 1 TiVo. It was one of the original models. The thing lasted a number of years, and I'm the second owner, and the hard drive upgrade was a snap. Easy upgrade... and tripled the storage at the same time.
I went into a Gateway store this weekend to check out their 42" plasma screen. They had a display model with a game of Madden 2003 demoing off of a PC. I asked the guy if I could switch it over to TV so I could see what it'd look like with a real feed going to it instead of a computer feed, and was told "No, we don't have any cable signals in the store." What's the point of selling a plasma screen, if you're not going to allow your potential customers to see how things will look for 90% of its use? I walked out the door.
Everquest is a game full of people who want to "win" and "be the best" at any cost.
"Because they can't be in real life. Yay for delusions of grandeur!"
Eh, somebody's got to hold the record for most twinkies eaten, fewest days in the gym, and fewest encounters with a real woman that doesn't go by the name "Mom". I'd say they're "the best" at some things.
If you like Christmas lights, and live in the NJ area you should definitely take a trip to this guy's house. He's been doing it for about 30 years and every year it gets bigger and better. Cars line up and wait up to an hour to drive around the streets near his house. It's not X10, but it's damn cool for a Christmas Lights display.
"a developer might be writing what he thought was standard Java, when in fact non-standard"
Maybe the developers should have known better. Developing isn't just manual labor. In theory, you've got to keep up with what you're actually doing when you press those little labeled buttons in front of you.
So now instead of a family owning one gun for protection, the father will have one... and so will the wife. I'm not sure who was pushing this legislation, but maybe they didn't think this whole thing through.
Apparently you've never flown a twin-prop puddle-jumper. Sure there's a window between you and the propeller... but should one of those things unleash... 10mm of plastic isn't going to do much for you.
On the other hand... I agree that this thing would be deadly if it had ever gone into mass production.
Since Amazon is swallowing up pretty much every major online retailer (CDNOW/Target/Toys 'R Us/etc.) eventually everything will be under their single umbrella and there will be nobody to infringe on the patent.
Why is it that Nintendo only gets to reap the benefits of the Playstation name? Can't Sony countersue for Nintendo to cover some of the liabilities associated with the Playstation name?
...when I dropped it off of the display stand at CompUSA. Damn thing slipped off the metal stand it was on and took a plunge towards the floor (and my foot which swung out to catch it). A real-life example that so far, these things can withstand a 4 foot drop.

Do you have any screenshots of Freevo? I'm interested...

Like this...
Now thousands of geeks can finally say they've come in contact with a clit. Ya gotta figure it's about as close as most will ever get....

My bet is the machine was stolen so somebody could play Solitaire and download porn at home...
Probably nothing sinister....
"This is hilarious, not by what you said, but by saying it anonymously!!"

Hey, those look pretty slick ... er, guess that's where they got the name.

Merry Christmas to those that celebrate it.

Made it into 2002 by about a week..
"I like pizza!"

Why not? They've got the Playstation 5 on the way.
That's where my P2P video experience ended.
... NEXT!
Oh well

I suppose the duct tape over the power and reset buttons falls under the topic of properly administered?
Further proof that more is accomplished through innovation than through litigation.
