I am concerned about sending my spare CPU time overseas, i mean, they say they are "climate modeling", but could they not just as easily be selling this "distributed" computer network to the black market, or Iran, or doing nuclear weapons simulations?
I mean, they ARE british, and you all know what happened last time they got their hands on a bunch of CPU time- that poor kursk...
How bout the dental hygene simulator project?
sorry, just had to rip on some of my brit friends today:)

Im currently reading Stephen Baxter's Manifold: Space - It is a very interesting read, however I must say at about the half way mark, the book is very depressing when you look at the overall picture it has created.
I dont like depressing, the snow and ice does it well enough for me.
Hey, from what little I know, the guy that originally wrote gator, (maybe still in control?) lives in TAMWORTH NH (either that or Madison NH) which is 25 minutes north on the same road as PLUM CRAZY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some excellent advise, especially about having the programmer sign a contract based on security vulnerabilities. My task is to setup the LAN, there is a full T1 on the customer side, as well as the programmer's side (nice (TBD) proprietary software mind you) The programmer ( I believe ) also wants the mssql server exposed to the net, as well as IIS. Im sure this will be a blast.
personally, as useful as remote access is, remote access = remote access
The money is good..thats a plus. The company in question has zero clue on anything computer related, IE why im hired... however, the programmer... wants citrix for remote administration to a domain controller.. citrix, for remote admin...cause he does not like terminal services.. How do you fight this?
Counter-Strike is where it is at. Valve appears to care, the players stay happy, the cheaters usually get caught, the friends are more real (relativly speaking) . Spend your 3 months of Evercrack cash on some Half life baby. You will enjoy it- Many people I know have switched for good.
side note, our local smallvile cable isp cut all the binary newsgroups, not just the major ones- since I run the local computer store, I have been telling everyone to just get adsl from verizon, same price, faster connection - hell, 45 bucks for 500/100 on an unstable network? im sending the folk to the super isp now I guess, against my inner me, but bandwidth is bandwidth.
I have a copy of NHL 2002 sitting downstairs next to my XBOX, and you know what? it works. It is made by EA- this is a trollish post for me, but the shit is getting deep here again on slashdot.
I almost bought an xbox yesterday, but I guessed it would be better to pay my rent. What they need to set up is a line of consoles that people can walk down and play just about any game made.
My nintendo is still plugged in just for tetris. My 3d0 is plugged in for "way of the warrior" My n64 is just for zelda- but sadly my superNES is in several peices. I loved that thing. The hog im typing on is my Counter-Strike box
Games are art... and unlike that retarded judge who says they contain nothing to give them first ammendment rights, i believe that none of these christian coalition types get their paws on any laws that ban or restrict sales of games. I hope this "Art" exhibit helps show that games are speach/art/educational material.
-mommy- why is that stick stuck in that donkeys belly?
Little Joe Spinners work excellent for brook trout. and for white perch you ask? A big fat dillie stuck on a plane jane hook and a lighted bobber at night.
yessah , you CAN keep your freezer full with this proven technique.
Some great sci-fi reading, by Kim Stanley Robinson, has quite a bit about space elevators in it, and for all you who wish there were some type of utopian government... the problems that arise from building a society on mars. Excellent reading...
An historic event!
haters gotta hate; maybe everyone on here arguing about balls should read the latest press release from the NFL.
go Pats!
I downloaded mine as a torrent, because the download link from the nin store gave an EOF after 200k. I bought two copies of the 10 dollar set.
How many others like me grabbed the torrent because the download server was hosed?
I think i would rather be bitten by a komodo dragon!

Ieee Huh? How about promoting some more pure research while we are at it, instead of doing pocket lining? The DMCA just about kills that as well!
I know girls who play counter-strike... the numbers are growing! cs is where its at.. and it could lead to cs.

Why fight the addiction, find a cheaper crutch!

You will see something is up when your browser starts retaining passwords and auto complete gets turned on by something other than your own clicks.
