I agree with you totally for the time being. The reason why I say time being is because I think in the next 10 years the "net" is going to grow up in a serious way. With broadband increasing alot and video codecs getting better and better I think we'll see a few net based video channels spring up which will report whatever news you want to hear. The TV will become like the radio is now, something you'll look/listen to when you're bored with the net or your show isn't on yet. Either that or the TV may actually be displaced by or merged with the net. However, since bandwidth isn't airwaves there shouldn't be any restictions like there is with TV. Truly freedom of the press, i hope...=)
Republicans, for example, favor deregulation, but they also tend to favor community values. They have to pay attention to big busine$$, but they've never been friends with big media (maybe excepting FOX) and they're supposed champion small-business as the key to the future of the economy.
I feel your pain, I just recently (past 6 months) got cable interent, I live in a rural area and 56k was horrible. Now, sorry to burst your bubble however, this is one of those technologys that deserves those 7 famous words, "I'll Believe It When I See It".
I'm pulling for ya though, people deserve hi speec internet and any improvement I'm sure you'll appreciate.
Whats even better will be when teenage kids will have their cell phones on in movies (they always do) will get calls for things they won't buy anyways(I'm with you by not trusting the telemarketers, they will find a way to use this) and my movie going experience will be interupted even more frequently.
Anyone think the editors were baiting us with this story. Before I even clicked "Read More" I knew just KNEW there was going to be a few "imagine a cluster..." posts. And if there wasn't I was going to make one, LOL.
I doubt you're going to click them so let me tell you what they say. Halliburton has won contracts from the White House to rebuild, contruct, and repair the oil wells of Iraq after the war. Cheney STILL gets a check from Halliburton. I wonder who go them these contracts...hmmm. Oh and I wonder why Halliburton is needed to rebuild, construct and repair the people of Iraqs oil wells. After all Bush said the oil belongs to the people of Iraq, I'm sure Halliburton is doing this out of the goodness of their heart.
The problem is we have a bunch of conservative rednecks who are so pissed off at their penis size that they have to go attack and kill anyone who they think has a bigger penis. What REALLY bugs them is Clinton, who they STILL talk about in any arguement/attack/reply/song/anything including words. (Just to paraphrase your "arguement", name calling is beyond childish but alot of your conservative buddies always sink to this level. Please keep the standards higher in this discussion and debate me in a civilized and rational manner).
Why are we attacking Iraq then from a conservative point of view? Weapons of Mass Destruction? HA! I'm sure we're going to "find" some after we go in there, even though trained and highly educated weapons inspectors couldn't find them with TOTAL access. Our proof consisted of a college students report and forged documents. Maybe to help the people of Iraq? Ok, why are they so special? Why not the Palestinians, North Koreans, any African country?
Those are all good points. My question is why is everyone so quick to actually WANT to shell out 300 bucks more for a new console? Let PS2 run its course, there is still plenty of power in it that developers haven't even tapped yet. 2006 actually sounds about right for when we'll NEED to upgrade.
I agree. GWB at best is a puppet. There are far more sinister forces at play here who are pulling the strings. ALOT of this has to do with big oil and defense companies. The oil companies want to get at the oil, the defense companies want to test new toys, clear out old supply and replenish stocks after the war. My guess is Bush is as clueless about this all as the rest of us.
I agree, I have no problem with any laptops on my lap. Sure it may get a little warm but not hot. Of course I wear pants regularly so others results my vary. I don't guarentee the same results for naked people or partially clothed people.
This what is REALLY needed for Linux to grow into the mainstream market. Office applications, graphic manipulation programs and internet programs are all fine and dandy but games for the most part push the software market these days. All it's going to take is a couple good games like a Doom/Qauke/Wolfenstein, Counter Strike or Unreal to start pushing common people toward Linux.

I'm a Democrat because it's the lesser of the two evils. If you're going to say vote Green then sorry but I'm having trouble seeing Nader in the White House. The guy has run more times then Carl Lewis (the gold medal sprinter, get it, ha ha, whatever). Plus, I have trouble voting in a guy whos crowning achievment thus far has been putting tags on my pillows and bed telling me not to rip off this tag, whats up with that tag anyways?! It mocks me..."You can rip me off, nah nah nah nah nah nah" ARGGHHHHH!!! hahaha.

I'll check this one out. Is there an O'Reilly book that isn't useful or somewhat entertaining? Thier hacking series is top notch in my book.
You're right. No athlete would ever want to do that, not even endurance athletes where one of the keys to success is to make your body work as hard aerobically as possible. It would be like race car drivers caring about RPM's and driving at the same time. That would never happen.
Or you talking your eyes off the screen to check your troll meter? Hmm I stand corrected, some people want those glasses, go figure.
How long are they planning to go between upgrades? Seriously though, most of that stuff seems awesome, others seem useless or overkill. Are athletes going to take their eyes off the finish line or competitors to see what their heart rate is? I do want the wrap around TV though...i'd make my room into Quake 8 by then.
You made a very interesting point. The fact that someone COULD actually think it is (anti|un)-american to get the best quality of music for the best possible price. WHEN in fact I thought this was what being a american was all about.
Oh great, another reason why I'm un-American. Between eatting French Fries, French Toast, French Kissing my girlfriend, being a Democrat and now this I'm a freaking terrorist.
Yeah I was very interested in playing that game but it seemed that almost as soon as it came out it was pulled from the market. It's a shame because the idea is brilliant.
Calm down people, alot of you are getting your feathers ruffled over the science/numbers of this all. You missed that this was in a "magizine" meaning it's magic.
Do *NOT* go to college. It was really pointless because a president gets installed right as you finish college who proceeds to ruin the economy. This so called great degree doesn't help you get a job, the degree would be better served as toilet paper in the new century. Go to work for a dot com company and keep selling off those options. Put that money into a mutual fund until the year 2000, at that point sell it off and put that money in a good old savings account. I have no advice for high school, that was fine. It was boring but worked out just fine. I can't advise you on women because I still haven't figured them out.
Rosen stepping down with top executives at Sony and Vivendi Universal's MCA also leaving do you get the feeling that the rats are jumping a sinking ship?
Cool, your answers work for me. As long as someone can explain questions I have with a movie with more then half a brain then I am happy. Cannibalism was my guess with the first question as you can see them fighting each other at different parts in the movie. The eclipse thing, I don't think the movie paid attention to the time it took to go from no eclipse to partial eclipse to full eclipse then, as I view how it should go, back to partial to no eclipse. Granted, the movie wouldn't be as fun,;D. The weather explanation kinda still bugs me a bit as weather never forms THAT quick, at least hat I have seen. I appreciate your answers though, it give me stuck to look/think about next time I watch the movie, cheers.
They are confirmed opt-in. When you first set up a mobile device, Yahoo sends it a message containing a unique password. You are required to type this password into a web page before it starts sending you alerts. So, you'd have to physically get your hands on someone else's phone to sign them up.
Well if you are evil just do this:
Get a hotmail/other free mail account account. Proceed to sign up for every damn list you wish to bug a person with. Get the opt in message, opt in and then have that e-mail address forward all mail to the phone address. Not to hard.
I'm a pretty big trek fan, as trek fans go, and I REALLY liked the film. I'm terrible at writing reviews without giving away plot hints, but I'm here to say that it was probably my #3 favorite trek film.
One thing, though. I can see people interested in Locutus, Borg Queen, Khan, or a few other star trek-related bad guys. But this film's bad guy? He's just picard with a narrower, younger head. He was still a good bad guy, I thought, but I don't think he has the sinister style that sticks with people like the other bad guys I mentioned.
But anyway, go see the movie... it was excellent.
This too, was my 3rd favorite Star Trek behind #2 and #8. I also think this was the 3rd best bad guy behind the two in the previously mentioned movies. No sinister style? *PLOT SPOILER, DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE* This guy was sinister. He wanted to destroy an entire planet and then the entire Federation, he killed the senate of an empire, had one of his own guys shot for messing up, mind raped Troi, sacrificed his own life to beat Picard and when he was inpaled he pulled the bar through him to try to strangle Picard.
