    The article doesn't go into details, but I assume 'file sharing' means allowing upload of your files, which isn't covered in CA's copyright act as legal.

    As somone else stated, if these application were provided to the public for inspection, they'd have more than enough 'resources' to deal with the applications.

    To hell with their claims that they don't have enough resources. It's clear that they do not do the job they're paid for, and as such it causes this kind of crap that costs OTHERS to resolve their screw ups.

    I think the PTO should be sued every time a patent that has caused problems becomes invalid after a court case. Then it might just give them an incentive to actually DO their job. Actually, I think the individual examiners should be held responsable; then they're really have an incentive to do it right!

    The way I see it, this is like when domain names were set free and available by anyone to sell. Except that song can be sold more than once.

    If anything, I think we'll see prices fall the same way they fell for domain names with all the competition.

    Rebates exist to drive up sales of a product. Since the iPod is already selling very well, and is still in high demand, there's no point for Apple/Resellers to offer a discount.

    We already have.

    There's a fucking levy on every CDR product we buy, and they're proposing an increase on that.

    That, and the fact that NONE of that money collected over the last five year has not been distributed to those that are to benefit from it (artists) makes me really warm and fuzzy inside.
