By insulting the Jihad, you ARE insulting Islam. This is what you said originally:

The Jihad (holy war) is just like the Crusades or inquisition, repugnant practices performed by ignorant people under the auspice of religion.

In your reply to my comment, you did make amends, and I agree with just about everything you said subsequently except this:

I concede that i misused the word jihad, but the Koran DOES say that the word of the prophet may be spread with the sword.

Which ass did you pull this one out of? Jihad is not about spreading the word of Islam, it's about protecting your culture against those who physically attack it. Show me the line from the Quran which proves what you said and I'll withdraw my argument.

Be careful to even call this a jihad! Jihad is holy war, faught between the willing. Innocent civilians including the defenceless, the clergy of any religion, women and children, among others are not to be harmed in anyway, and those who have done so have violated this. The crusades were a holy war, atleast for the muslims, where they were defending against opression for being muslim. This, on the other hand, is violence against a group percieved to be the enemy of by a group of disillusioned fanatics hiding under the guise of a religion. Don't insult Islam when you really want to insult just those who commit such dastardly acts.

I wouldn't say that's entirely true. Semitic people have been living in that land for thousands of years, but the key point to remember is that Jews are not the only Semites - Arabs, Babylonians and other groups are also semitic. The "Palestinians" are not just another group that invaded the land but are a combination of among others, Pagans, Christians and Jews that converted to Islam after it took force in the 7th century. They lived somewhat "peacefully" for a while except during the crusades when they got killed together with Jews and Christians by european christians.

The reason Palestinians are pissed off these days is because for some reason Britian gained control of the present day Israeli land a while ago, and after the Holocaust, gave that land to the survivors to create "Zion", their Jewish state. It was a just cause, but not quite fair to the muslim population who all of a sudden got displaced. And even after the Camp David Accord, things still weren't peachy for everyone. The palestinian-run Gaza Strip continuasly gets invaded with new kibutzes and settlements that inch by inch, mile by mile, take up the little land palestinians have.

Arabs struck first, arabs are aggressors, arabs are whatever, but remember who "struck" whom first and in what way. Violence isn't the only way to destroy a people -- take away their homes, their right for representation and their freedom of speech and you can cause damage far worse than a holocaust.

That article was bullshit too. NOTHING they said contradicts any of the facts Steve Gibson has said.

Yes, aftermarket patches/drivers are available to get raw sockets but most newbie h4X0r wanna-be's will probably never get them. And yes, they were available with win2k but it is marketed as a workstation OS, not a desktop os, meaning it is not the best place to play diablo2 and what-not and thus the target wanna-be demographics is eliminated as potential win2k users. On the other hand, one version of WinXP, home edition, is targeted for home users.

Remember the oversized packet exploit from way back that spurned many "hacker tools" such as WinNuke and its clones? It took 1 braincell to download it, 1 to find a buddy's ip through icq and 1 to press the "Nuke d4 fux0r!" button. These are the types of exploits that will be more and more common when WinXP Home Edition comes out because of its abilities to take advantage of more exploits out of the box.

I'd agree Steve is a bit of a sensationalist, but what he is saying is not wrong, and definitely not FUD! It will not be the end of the net, and WinXP should not be scrapped, but to say his rants are worthless is going too far.

Well for one thing, wouldn't they have to subscribe to Everquest in "valuable" American dollars, or atleast the amount in local equivalents? Their profits would not be all that much more than their american counterparts doing the same, and this method is definitely no different from buying/selling any other goods and services.
