I really need to bookmark this comment so I can come back to it next time I use a Python program. I have yet to encounter a single piece of nontrivial Python code that actually worked as its author claimed and didn't require debugging before actually being used. It is quite possibly the worst mainstream language, since it has half-arsed support for a load of different paradigms and yet manages to fail to support any of them well. On the plus side, most of the old VB programmers have migrated to Python, and it's probably a step up for them... Well, there's your problem.
9-11 wasn't an anomaly...I think our government knew exactly what it was doing with those planes. Clearly the government was just a puppet of the reverse vampires.
This won't shut up 'that old saw'. Yes, it will, because it exposes it for the straw-man it is. The slight ambiguity of what he said, when it's clear that he meant "stop its use as an argument", doesn't make him a "fucking idiot". Your intentional misinterpretation of his statement is your own problem, not his.
May not suck... Wow, such strong verbiage. How can you possibly defend such a rigid stance?
Next time you're trying to defend something, don't start from 'may not suck'. Try something a little more positive. It's humorous understatement, which may not be all that horrible.
No, but there's probably a name for the tendency to criticize people for saying something that they didn't actually say. Here's $5 bucks, kid. Go buy a sense of humor. A sense of humor is an intangible personality trait. How would $5 help to acquire it? Your basic premise appears to be flawed.
IT DOES NOT MATTER one single iota that ogg is a container and not a codec, it is simply pointless unless your an engineer (a real geeky one at that). Welcome to Slashdot. I think you may have made a wrong turn somewhere.
Well I certainly see why no one takes this forum seriously. No, servers, personnel, or bandwidth don't go to zero or anywhere near zero. How much money do you think it costs to transmit a few hundred kilobytes? Are you from the past?
There is no somehow. It takes hard work and it takes compensation. Now if you believe that a pat on the back is all that's required? Be my guest, you'll get the results that go with it. What pat on the back? He's talking about selling e-books. Selling them for money.
Hey, atheists would have us believe in a bunch of secular stupidity as well. This mystical belief is at the heart of the environmental movement, and its utterly ridiculous. First and foremost is this notion that if we are nice to the earth, the earth will be mean to us. The earth is a fricking rock. It has no brain. You can't make deals with it. That's a straw-man. When environmentalists talk about the "earth" they aren't talking just about the rocks, they're also talking about the complicated system of interconnected organisms and environment. Which it has been more than proven that we're capable of screwing up, to our own detriment.
Then, of course, there is faith in science itself. It is an act of faith... there's no proof that knowledge makes us happier, only that, knowledge lets us have more stuff, at least until recently. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The knowledge we've gotten from science is the reason you're able to live a long, happy life instead of dying toothless in a field at age 40. Quick question, dying of tuberculosis, does this make you more happy or less happy? Want to guess the reason that no one you know has?
Radiohead has always been planning on releasing their CD in January. Putting out a 160 kbps crap quality version is there way to whet your appetite for the real CD, which will probably contain more content than the mp3 release and be of much better quality. They're clearly hoping to sell to the 0.05% of people that can tell the difference.
....but is it just me, or does this sound like Mario64 and Mario Sunshine's basic theme of collecting stars after tasks, only on planets instead of "rooms" or "areas"? Explain to me how that's not awesome.
Folks might also consider patronizing independent artists. Sure, if independent artists ever consider becoming good musicians. Don't get me wrong, there are a few gems out there. But the vast majority of indy artists are crap. That's why they're indy. Thankfully big-label artists produce uniformly fantastic music. I mean, when was the last time you heard a song that wasn't very good on the radio?
"Wanking" is rough-slang English from England, and means 'masturbating'. But Torvalds sure ain't one of us. All of the other words he used also come from England. How dare he!
I see the mental retards that spent small fortunes on a stupid web-surfing phone are feeling a little inadequate, but rather than looking the mirror to look at the half-wit really responsible, they like to blame those that point out the severe lack of intelligence they exhibit with their pathetic Apple groupthinking mindfucking ways.
I laugh at you, sir. You're a sad, sad human being. Have you considered that are people for whom $400 isn't a small fortune? You can mock people for making a good living if you want, but it seems kind of ineffective.
"You have a lot of money and can afford nice things, you LOSER!" doesn't have quite the sting you seem to think it does.
If those who think that "information wants to be free" is a god given right? Then do what civil rights leaders did and stand up and be counted. Instead of slinking in the encrypted shadows like a common thief. For those of us who believe in privacy, encrypting our communications and encouraging others to do likewise is standing up to be counted.
Comic books movies are embarrassing. Comic books are for children and we aren't children. To tell people that we really like comic book movies, such a Superman, Batman, X-Men, Transformers, is to tell people that you are still a child in your cultural development. Not as in 'child-like', but in 'retarded'. This is not a good thing. I really can't fathom how insecure and fear-based you must be to advise hiding you enjoyment of these movies like there were a crack addiction. I don't know how long you've been in a cave, but comic book movies have never been more respectable. Yeah, Batman Begins, A History of Violence, Sin City, American Splendor, all kids stuff!
Now before you start to flame me or boot me down to -2 Score, just a short word. This is simply a warning to people who usually don't interact in the non-tech world. If you actually are a serious fan of comic books and comic book movies, keep it quiet. Be quite discreet. This same advice goes out to the guy who still thinks that Turtle LOGO is a serious programming language. Fuck that shit. How about, instead, you just admit what you like without a crippling fear that people won't think you're cool. You'll be much happier.
As for the picture of the family, what's wrong with that? I don't know anyone who would actually bring in a picture of them doing more than hugging their wife. Most people, myself included, would not be offended by a picture of two gay men just hugging each other.
The problem isn't reasonable people like you an me; it's unreasonable people who discriminate against someone for no other reason then their being gay. In your previous comment you said that homosexuality shouldn't be protected. Unlike skin colour, sexuality isn't immediately obvious and you say that keeping it a secret should be enough to avoid discrimination (correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how it read to me). Which you back up by implying that if you are polite, well-behaved, and don't talk about sex in an inappropriate way no one will know your are gay. iamacat simply pointed out that there are many completely appropriate actions that reveal a persons sexuality, such as a picture of your spouse or a kiss in the lunchroom.
Homosexuality is not normal, it is abberant behavior and ironically it is only religions like Christianity which give homosexuals inherent worth as humans. From a biological perspective, a homosexual is worthless because they are genetic dead ends.
Provably false. Homosexuality has existed throughout human history and exists in the rest of the animal kingdom.
It is because we do this that we have forgotten the true righteous core of God's morality and God in His anger has basically walked away from America.
There are about a million different cores of God's morality. You say we have forgotten God's core of morality and that He is angry with America. Other religions say differently. What evidence do you have that you're right? It's a serious question.
I know it's off topic but you have a TON to learn if you think the reason Bobby Fischer is being held has anything to do with 9/11. There is truth that Bobby was probably caught because of higher security since 9/11. The charges against him were in place long before 9/11.
Well, I think that's the point; The security increase that was justified by 9/11 hasn't done so much to catch terrorists, but it has caught someone who played a game of chess in a country the US doesn't like (Yugoslavia). Regardless of his personality problems, that's why he was arrested.
On that note, refrain from reading any other non-fiction from him, if you want to hold on to any respect for the man. He has some hateful anti-homosexual views. It's a good example of how religion can short-circuit an otherwise intelligent persons thought process.
Or maybe even Tony.

You know, it would be a lot easier for us to complain about evil employers if you'd stop being so damn reasonable!
Yeah, dirt-poor African kids get all the breaks, don't they?

Well, in his comment before that he said "Hell, if you pay $400 for a phone, you're a complete moron.".
I laugh at you, sir. You're a sad, sad human being. Have you considered that are people for whom $400 isn't a small fortune? You can mock people for making a good living if you want, but it seems kind of ineffective.

iPods do have gapless playback, UMS, and they work with other music stores such as Emusic and Beatport.
