Well why not figure out how to recover from that crash, and then install debian? No harm is learning new stuff. If you are on ext2 boot from a floppy and fsck it.:-)
whoa, that sounded like a 15 y/o wrote that (no offense to 15 y/o's). I meant that some people have said that some services might require others to start correctly.
As an example I am running dhcp, and apache, yet both services start correctly even though the interfaces are still in the process of coming online. This has smoothed things out greatly for me (ymmv).
I added a '&' to my/etc/rc file. like so: $i start&
I have been berated a coupdl times in online forum because 'some services might need it to start properly', but I have never noticed any ill effects. My machines now boots in about 6 seconds:-D
Wil, can you test something out for me? Write some random offtopic post, and see if you get modded +5. Maybe even just write a bunch of odd letters.;-)
My company moved to OpenOffice.org and people complained like mad that they were having problems. Until...we put shortcuts to Write and Calc on their desktop and renamed the shortcuts to "Word" and "Excel". The complaints literally vanished overnight.
I used to have a friend who was a quadrapolegic(sp?) and he used a laptop with the stick mouse. He used some arm attachement dealy with a pencil looking thing attached to it.
497? maaaan, and I thought I was doing well.

nope it really works...all my services start up at the same time now.

FWIW I'm running Mandrake.

I use evolution and set it to no images.
why? because I care.
It's currently censored by not returning any results.
As a relatively devout Protestant, yup, you are bang-on.
Actually something ore akin to the Mac's preferences file would probably work a lot better than a registry-type of system would.

well at least put /. back in the fold. We miss you around these parts.
;-)
You could do like Pudge, he uses here for his poitical journal.
by the way, my wife had the biggest crush on you years ago, could you send her an email and say hi? I'll give ya a gmail account
haha, how about this one; why don't you post in your /. journal anymore?
hmmm. I don't care if it's ready for primetime or not. GTK-Gnutella works just fine with firewalls.
drinking Vladmir Vodka probably could make you go blind
That's Ffud that made all those hillbillies go blind.
I'm in auburn, where are you?
I liked his atomic wristwatch.

But were any of those conceived in an opium den?

I usually start off by writing mad lib programs. Take input, print output.
or maybe they used a conference bike.
or get a different antenna. :-)
The router/nic will listen to whatever is loudest. Go pick up a bigger antenna. 7dbi should do it.
Is that the new, somewhat unfree, or the old free license?
I dunno, just the thought of where it came from. The name is appropriate because I would have to be "zmoking ze weed" to drink that.
