  11. Pick the right classes. on Tips For Incoming 2002 Freshmen · · Score: 1

One of the most important things is choosing your classes wisely. In your first year of two you should take only the basic required classes that all majors need (english, biology, etc) until you really decide what major you want. Nothing worse then switching majors 2 years in and then being left with 15+hrs of classes that won't be applied to your major. Thats a sure way to get on the five year plan.

Also don't be afraid to get those hard classes out of the way during summer school, classes are usually easier then and of course shorter.

  18. Re:Metered pricing vs. flat rate on Announcing Slashdot Subscriptions · · Score: 1

Since when? The key is obviously offering the flat rate at a cost higher then the average usage. I'd rather (and would) pay 20$ a year for a flat rate then have to pay 5 dollars for 1,000 page views. I don't want the headache of deciding whether or not its worth reading the comments from a certain news post. I want to be able to hit reload without knowing that I will be charged every time I do. I'd rather pay for it all at once and be done with it. Why not include an option for a flat rate, maybe a gold member option that comes with a slashdot.org emailing forwarding address? All at a higher cost of course.

I read cnn.com regularly, I havent really noticed what your talking about, but I think the fact is they update their web page based on current knowledge of what is happening. I honestly dont smell some global media conspiracy.

I think it is as simple as that. Did we have no right to stop nazi germany from killing millions of jews? Did we have no right to interfer with their society? They believed the jews were animals just like the Taliban view their women. Should we have left well enough alone and say we had no right to put "our" morals on them? Lucky for the women in Afghanistan that they are needed to produce childeren. There are basic unquestionable morals in this world. And they dont stop at some imaginary line on a map.

"And don't forget: The conflict in Aghanistan exists because of American foreign policy, because of economics, because of oil. Prove me wrong. "

Pardon? We are in this for the money? Those 5000 people that died is just some opportunity for us? Do you realize how much money we are spending everyday being over there? All those bombs we're dropping? And you know what we will get out of it? Oil? Nope. Nothing. Execpt for a debunk oppressive regime and dead Al Qaeda members. If you could show me some evidence, I'd be happy to look at it, but your conspiracy theories are best kept to yourself.
