Only a handful? There are 252,781 last I checked who signed the petition. Me and my friends vowed to never purchase a game unless we can play LAN.
I played SC2 beta with a friend in my network, behind the same firewall the performance was dismal!! And that was just two, I can't imagine 8 people! My network is gig, My firewall is a Linux based one with 4ghz, 1GB ram, Dual Gig,
Another thing that pisses me off is these gaming tycoons saying LAN is obsolete. A gig LAN(or even 100mb) is far superior to anything I can get from Comcast. Not to mention having friends in the same room (what do you think made halo on xbox so popular)
Taking away LAN does remove functionality. LAN is the ultimate multi-player gaming experience.
Need to factor in the loss of power from the plan to the house which is where most of it is.
While it is mostly distance driven, also above ground vs underground changes things a lot, and now days in city stuff is under ground.
Doing some quick searches, petroleum power plants are 33-50% efficient(vs your stated cars 35%), the average loss over wires to get to your home is about 7%. Now add the efficiency to charge the batteries(more power is used to charge the battier than actually goes into it), then the amount leaked, then the engine efficiency.
So your 50% efficient power plant loses 7% efficiency just to make it to the house leaving it 46.5%. Now just assuming the electric car is 50% efficient considering everything I stated above will put you at 23.25% efficiency.
Now we have a number really close just based on usage. We have to considered transportation of fuel to gas station and the power plant to be equal, so what is left is the manufacturing and maintenance. Which is what the other person was talking about.
It's easier to regulate and upgrade a few power planets than millions of cars.
The real goal is clean renewable energy that doesn't depend on playing politics with other countries, having it competitive and even cheaper will help us adapt those other power sources.
A little wrong there W2k = 5.0, then XP = 5.1, then Vista = 6, then Windows 7 = 6.1
Not to say Win7 is wonderful. The only feature that makes me want it for home use so far is the "Search programs and files" option on the start bar. There are plenty of things I hate, like not being able to edit things in Default(default user) like their start menu. I also have to change the OS more than XP to make it usable. Then everything takes twice as many clicks.
They don't have a clue, not because they are not idiots, but because they are so far removed from the tech world they don't know such things exist.
If it wasn't for me, all my friends but one(not including co-workers here) would not have encryption. And that one friend has minimal security with a key of 1234567890 Most wouldn't even know that there is such a thing. Most reply how is that different? What is it?
One of my older friends was paying for internet from Comcast and his laptop worked wireless with out any problems. He didn't have a wireless router. . . . Not a clue that he was using a neighbors open wireless connection.
How can you hold someone criminally and financially responsible when they couldn't have known? And the victim is them? If found, shut them off from the net till they address the issue is reasonable.
These wireless routers need to have encryption enabled by default with a random key printed one the device and in the documents. Maybe making use of the serial number as part of they key.
he disagreed with most of Hancock's assertions, that some of them deserved much closer consideration. And it's not only academic politics that have shaped our "consensus" regarding those civilizations. Religious and political forces have played an even greater role in making sure that the accepted history supports certain orthodoxies.
Do you have any that you can share? Any specifics?
I would like to know more than just what "lies my teacher told me" kind of books show. History is important, and unfortunately are rewriting to suit the winners, usually with political/religion goals. I didn't think discovery was that harsh, although suspected it played a roll.
So please impart with us more than a simple "the truth is out there" . . .
For an example of an industry producing more electricity than it uses, may I point you towards something called "power stations"?
Battery manufacturing plants? Can't take that much to make an AA or a watch battery.
A single AA holds about 4.2 watt-hours, assume 9.8 cents/kwh, the power would cost about $0.0004. The battery when purchased cheap in bulk cost about $0.85 each. Over a 200,000% markup. Which would suggest, at least to me, that the energy used to produce that battery takes a lot more than you get out of it.
I would expect the dye to fade quickly, I'm more concerned over the rest of the unit. I would hope/expect one can reapply the dye themselves every few years for cheap.
It does fir with the times, as long as its only 1 badge.
Heck, I would even invite cub/boy scouts over to game, and show them the value of team work, communication, and good sportsmanship
I wish they would stress proper manors in gaming. Such as not griefing, playing for fun, not to own and that aspect since gaming now days is about multiplayer.
Sue them into not breaking what they sold and to stop buying their products. Only after they have hurt enough will they build good products and good practices.
Bad analogy for your angle, the water purification market uses that exact tactic and is alive and well.
That is exactly what the fake AV companies do (and some of the real ones)
But the real trick is most of the time people don't know they installed anything, their compare said it had problems click here to fix, and now they have more problems . . . but those can be fixed by buying full pro version.
More than just it being an old stepping stone tech, I would think with this patent close to expiring (filed 95, granted in 96), it would not be pursued.
For my aging parents I want quite the opposite, they wanted a bigger screen to have things bigger and easier to read, but it's actually harder for them. Lowering the resolution makes the fonts fuzzy and almost unreadable. I really wish there was lower good resolution on LCD monitors that worked.
Also the fact their computer desk is from the 80's where everything has a special compartment limiting the size of things . . .
err umm nm, re-read, it's not to have a launch point . . . but a museum piece. Boy I feel stupid, guess the idiots in politics is making me crazy where I think they would do something that stupid . . .
The salary requirements to have it there makes it cost a lot more The fact it's has further to go Weather
I can keep going, such as space limitation, pollution . . . This is nothing more than a money/political game.
Just ah wow, why can;t we have politics completely removed from NASA? We would have a moon/mars base by now if it wasn't for those morons in Washington!
Only people that are selfish with personal greed are ambitious enough to do well in politics. Thus anyone capable of becoming elected as president of USA is the wrong man for the job.
How about power, sound, heat, and not having drives go bad because of age alone?
My home server has 8 HD's. 6 in RAID5, 1 OS, 1 backup(cron job tar up certain directories). It's mostly a glorified samba/web server using a 12 watt CPU, the drives are what use the power.
I will tell you why, ID theft is a problem created by the credit industry, but they pass the problems and cost onto us. Solution: make the industries that created and use the ID systems feel the full cost of the problem.
Another side reason is that each year it is harder for immigrants(mostly illegal) and undocumented workers to seek jobs, so they have to steal. Either stealing ID's so they can work, steal ID's to steal money, or steal.
Who needs a giant boat made in China when you can be flying with unlimited fuel?
Just need to have a speed to keep you in sunlight all the time, which is about 1100mph at the equator in flight, less if you go north/south or fly lower to the ground. Being how this s in Switzerland, looks like the craft can operate in less than ideal solar conditions (far from equator) plus at their latitude they wont have to travel as fast to stay in daylight. Or can use battery power when not in daylight.
In any case, an aircraft that isn't dependent on a stored fuel source is ideal for an Apocalypse.
"It has never been a requirement for the entire work to be copied to be infringement. "
You can use parts of it under the Fair Use. A small clip, quote, some screen shots. It is getting less and less, and now days teachers are advised not to make copies of things because they fear legal recourse even though it is legal.
But if they have no idea how much you downloaded (if anything at all), it seams a reasonable defense if done right.(IANAL)
Because when kids are no longer allowed in school (read parents free baby sitting service) parents start to care.
The parents who think nothing of their kids no longer going to school, well, lost cause anyways, so why drag down the other 20-30 kids in the class because 1 or 2 cause all problems?
How does someone quote something they see first hand? Many of my friends are teachers and my mother is a teacher, and I volunteer in helping in classrooms/schools. In fact it was my mother who got hit by a student(not the only teacher this student had hit) and took her over a month and threats of legal action to even get that kid out of her classroom. She's 100lbs when wet, the student (5th grader) was taller and bigger, so it's not like some misbehaving toddler. This was Granite School district in Utah of this year.
And go talk to a good teacher of 4-6th grade, they have at parents all the time coming in yelling why their kids are failing. Some parents taking it to the principal, where either the teacher have to give them passing grades and they get pulled to another classroom where the teacher will give the kid a passing grade. This is a complaint I hear a lot.

Scouting (both boy and even girl) is mostly giving kids something wholesome to do. While giving them useful skills.
Kids left on their own are mischievous little burgers that cause problems.
The organizations was embrased by churches and started by people who where Christian faiths, and did their best not to alienate any religion

Intel was already getting ready to roll out their own lottery-core However there was a bit of public backlash because units leaked out early.

SO, the source, are the teachers themselves.
Ya, because Unix(*Nix) software never chargers per user, CPU, or desired speed.
Sure your are trying to be funny, but you also wrong.
