I guess this would be similar to someone patenting a new found stable Atom/chemical and neither of us would expect that to be possible. I.e you can't patent Unranium.
This does sound so cooky. I haven't read the article.. perhaps i should. But music can sometimes make me feel good. Certain music definitely feels be better in certain situations. I wont believe music will be able to cure physical ailments, but i see no reason why certain tones could help relieve stress.
Sounds can definitely have the opposite effect. I'm sure kids screaming on the public transport raises my bloody pressure and i know my alarm in the morning makes my heart beat much faster. Many other sounds can also bring about stress, such as the sound of my ex girl friends voice:/.
So couldn't sounds have a calming effect on the mind? The brain is also the centre of the body that controls a magnitude of chemicals that simulate other parts of the body. I think its very likely that sounds or music could interfere with this, just as they can in a negative way.
No it's probably not the sounds frequency but our interpretation of it and what feels good to one person may feel bad to another depending on their history. But i would guess that there are certain sounds that make everyone feel good this has it's roots in evolutionary theory.
How are his builds different from what google release? Is google's release simply for mobile devices whilst the releases that Hexxah publishes are build for desk/laptops ?
I know in my professional industry, there may be many a cool technology or device that i want to use, but may not be able to, despite the fact it looks good and can handle what i throw at it. However, i may not technically be able to use it because it has not been tested against specific guidelines or a part of the product was not tested against particular standards with the right amount of traceability.
I believe that’s why some particular product may cost more than any other. I.e a device to be used in a medical institute for diagnosis of any kind would probably require quite a lot of process in it's accreditation that the Wii probably didn't have to go through to be used as a game machine.
I added someone as a friend recently. It was a guy from school. After adding him, I realised, that whilst we weren't enemies at school, we weren't what you'd consider friends: more like acquaintances. So i deleted him and wrote a message behind the deletion.
I have no received and communication back.
I'm pretty sure what I've done has instantly been labelled "bitchy" in terms of Social Networking (SN), but I can certainly see within years that there are going to be heaps of people eon my list that whilst I do not hate, just don't classify as friends any more.
Perhaps this would be easily solved by adding certain groups to the friends and allowing individuals to slide through the different groups as time goes.
I like this reply, although I suspect the first 1/3 of the last paragraph was tong in cheek. I guess where I am at the moment, is that I believe in ghosts, simply because of details from third parties. I realise, that in its self isn't fantastic as people tend to elaborate and not get the details right 100% of the time. But in many circumstances, such as eye witnessed apparitions, its hard to disagree with those who you believe where being quite truthful and sincere.
I love sceptics though. The world needs them.
We need both types... those to dream and believe and those to keep the rest of us grounded. The reason why humanity has made it as far as it has is because we've got a good mix of people.
I can't understand why most in the science and engineering fields, not only don't believe but disregard it, with out little thought.
As an engineer, I'm required to find solutions to problems. Some times, I'm required to look out side the square and consider things that at first might seem strange, but when understood, make perfect sense. This helps me be more creative and allows me to explore the possibilities.
It seems like it would be a core requirement of any scientist to be able to expect the unexpected.
Why is it so hard to comprehand that something like ghosts/spirits might be real, given all that we know that we don't know. We know we don't know everything. There fore, there must be a lot of things out there in the Universe that seem completely strange and foreign.
Not long ago, most people thought the world was round, but it was certain people who where able to think outside the square that would be proved correct in later years. They may have been looked upon as crazy for the time - now they're looked upon as visionaries.
I'm not asking people to fall head over heals and loose their brain. I just want people to understand there is a lot we don't understand. With the advent of Quantum physics and our understanding of certain aspects, we're now more aware than ever of just how much we don't know.
Don't forget security. With all that tech your dwelling will be littered with, you'd have a seriously beefy security system. I only have the fundamentals down such as: * multiple cameras * automatic recording on sight - perhaps the recording software can be taught the profile of a human so the cameras don't switch on for cats and dogs etc. * monitoring from anywhere in the house - I'll assume the house would have several systems, plugged into the network where anything and everything can be done. * monitoring from outside - you'll want a server so you can check on the status of your belongings whilst on holidays * Automatic notification that something has been picked up on the cameras that is 'suspicious'. Perhaps you could receive text messages?
There's a lot one could do. All of the above would be cool. Also, You'd have to have the following for enjoyment purposes: 1) Central storage area for media, applications and file systems for thin clients 2) If i was doing it, I'd only have thin clients, all loading their profiles/file systems from the one central file server. 3) Don't forget media streaming capability. Having several thin clients with accompanying monitors/sound system means you can have the same or different media playing in every room of the house.
Have fun and invite me over to gawk when your done!
I've seen those messages on websites that offer Mp3z for sale. Which i assume is similar to movelink, whereas they would offer movies for sale (downloadable).
On a related topic, i asked Telstra why they wouldn't support downloading from firefox on linux. They're answer was no DRM.
Its likely the choice of IE is easier for developers and users and in some cases such as above, the only option.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the progressive thinking coming out of this part of the world. Its as if people from Norway, Denmark and like areas are all a little further evolved in their thinking compared to the average or average Westerner!
I wonder what it is?
Anyway, I love that someone is thinking in a manner that it puts pressure on those who are on the other side of the coin, I.e. RIAA (?), and friends.
When i lived close to uni, shops, pubs etc I did not need a car. I walked or rode my bike. Now that i dont live as close to work as i did with uni, i drive my car and i usually pick up any food etc on my way back home from work.... Mind you, when its not too cold and not to hot, i have been known to park my car 45 minutes walk away from work, thus my exercise;).

Good luck migrating to PPC, the OS was written for... duh uhh, PPC:/.
You'll probably get just as much fun from AROS - although, theres, last time i tried it, it did not have any emulation - that may have changed, but i doubt it!
Nice system, plus it has its own compilers etc so you can write software for it. It would be kinda neat if someone took the interface and ported it to *nix.

What happens when communication lines are down? I assume they just fall back to first principles?
Perhaps the licences should be handed out to Operating Systems based on compliance with web standards... I wonder if MS Windows would be given one?
I'm confused.
