When i first got a computer i would dream of all the things i could do, things i could create that would make me rich. Given i was young or in high school, but the sole reason for wanting to do things was money.
Now, through just the use of open source my mind has been opened to the hours of dedicated peoples who go into make such execellent products. No longer to i feel if i create something i should make money out of it. Rather, i'd quite happily give it to the community under some open source licence that helps everyone learn and colloborate openly. In return i ask for nothing, except maybe sometype of recognition from my peers I.e ego boost.
These ideas have been distilled in my from using open source. They could be me maturing but i dont believe so. What i want to do when encourging people to use other software is not just to use other software but to think out side the box. Or to take the analogy further, to think out side the windows box and let them see what happens when people have access to such wonderful cheap/free standards compliant software.
As more and more people start to use mobile phones, its very possible that they become more familiar with interacting with computing devices via the thumb. I guess this is what microsoft is trying to tap into too. However, its interesting that people find it hard to adapt. If the study is done on already computer literate people, then is it any wonder people find it hard to adapt? Ever heard the saying, old dogs cant learn new tricks? I feel this study would be more valuable if done on thsoe people who rarely use computers but have access to mobile phones.
I think people may disregard this also as its just an MS thing. However how would people react if this came out of Apple?
Given the algorithms for proving formulars etc, couldnt someone formulate a proof for the algorithyms doing the work...
Dont look at me. I just read chapter 0 of my theory of computation text book. I hate maths, although this book has squashed some of my fears of proofs.
The NRL is a premier sporting event in Australia, comparable to the AFL. We've beena ble to download the games once aired on national free to air and pay television. Recently telstra has taken away our right todownload them and are now only offering them to telstra customers. Certain a step backwards.
We can still download them, but only for a week or so.
Damn, i've used 'download' in the above, but i really should have used stream. Thats how this site came about.
I havnt used windows for over a year now... infact it'll be around 1.5 years. Actualy i have used it, but not as my main OS and i havnt owned a window machine for nearly 1 year now. I have never owned a win 2000 or XP machine. When i had a job i used win 2000 a lot, its basicly just like 98 (the interface anyway).
But having not used window for so long, when i have to use it, weather it be something not working on linux or my friends having virus problems, i find my self continusouly frustrated. Its like i'm back at work again, to be honest. Things arnt fast, they're dead slow and nothing is intuitive. But intuitivness in the computer world is learnt i feel because each system has its quirks.
I feel more home with at linux for sure. Fuck windows pisses me off. When i was first trying linux it was interesting/annoying, but now its just cool and smooth:)
Isn't 'the meter' also kept by some type of metal rod that basicly never changes? Basicly because i've heared they do adjust it every now and then:? I'd say it wouldnt be very often.
Maybe this explosion still will cause mass extinction? Maybe we just have to wait another 50,000 years or more likely longer?:) Keep your eyes on the sky!
If there are any americans that actualy bother drinking fosters (i no i havnt), then get yourself some real aussie beer (if you can). I recommend the beer the shuffle is compared to in the above picture.
I live in melbourne and have done so for the last 11 months. You hear from other areas of australia that melbourne can have 4 season in one day. You dont actualy realise how true it is until you live here.
Not as an example of the above, but to give an example of what summers are like here. Yesterday, it was around 35 degrees celceus. Infact, that would have been the average for the last week. Late yesterday sometime it started raining.
*looks out the window*
Fuck!!! Its still raining.
This is the first time it has consistantly rained in melbourne for a day, since i've been here.
As for humidity, melbourne doesnt get a lot of it, but we've had a few days where it was very shitty hot, muggy, sloppy weather. But nothing like NSW or god forbid, QLD!
I advice, find yourself a very cheap heater for winter, unless you like covering yourself in your doona's or blankets you'll be ripping of your bed! Winter is freezing, but prolly not as cold as it would get in most places of America. But for good old OZ Melbourne is as bout as cold it would get. (minus alps/canberra and tassy/and the deserts during the night).
I'm on an iinet, 256kbps down and 64kbps up plan. I get, 12G peak and 12G off peak downloads which it is caped at. Once peak or offpeak download limit/cap is breached, downloads are slowed to 72kbps, for that zone (peak or offpeak) expect for downloads that are from the PIPE Networks servers or iinet servers or other ISP related to iinet in some way.
I pay 40 dollars for this plan. Yes, i have iiphone packaged with it which means i get $10 dollars off the original price of $50.
For a similar price, this is what i get with broadband2.
The starter plan, with iiphone 1500 up to 8000 - down 256 up to 1000 - up 2GB peak + 2GB offpeak $39.95
As you can see, SIGNIFICANT decrese in downloads just doesnt cut it. However, a friend of mine who had a 512Kbps down and 256kbps up plan without iiphone would do well to get the 1500 to 8000kbps up with iiphone and 10G downloads each way for the same price.
Also, peering dosenot happen on broadband2 apparantly. So there are NO free downloads from pipenetworks and possibly other iinet users, so what you are getting for the same price is significantly LESS if you use these services, which i would think all iinet users would!!!
And i suggest, if you only download 2G or 4G a month, do you really need broadband? Wouldnt dialup be just as good?
The site operator decided that this 'unusual' event in the system log indicated a hack attempt, and the police broke down the donor's door and arrested him.
I've used IRC for years and whilst i have noticed some spam, i have never came cross anyone or anything illegal.
Infact, the worst case of anything illegal going on was when my friends little brother chatted on MS net meeting, with the video confrence, dressed up with some fake boobs and got some elderly pervert to masturbate.
I've only experienced dick heads on IRC. No doubt there is a lot of illegal stuff going on, but 99.9%? Get off it!
Again it seems like its time to mention AROS. Its Amiga like, it has less features, less applications, it looks bloody similar, but, its open source. I feel if the future of Amiga lovers lies anywhere, it'll be here. It wont happen over night, but it will happen (if there is an amiga future).
I'm not sure about dream weavers templating mechanism. I've used Dreamweaver 4 in commercial developing, but not totaly indepth. I wonder if templating can be accomplished by simple xml+xsl and sabcmd (Salbatron XSL processor) or any other XSL processors?
Here in OZ the ATO (Australia Taxation Office) supplies an application to complete your taxation and send it via the net for free. You have to pay for something your only going to use once a year? Is that right?
What stops manufactorers of PC from puting this technology into PCs. If it can fit in a phone, it can fit in a PC or even better, a... one of those portable hand held PCs (no, the ones smaller than laptops). I mean why not? I guess there must be some reason for it. Wouldnt it be great if our PCs had access to a 3G network or even better, this one?
Open source software breads new minds.

The internet really is the begining of utopia!!

yer, been meaning clean that site up and move it to another host! Know of any good free web hosters?

I remember from somewhere that growth rates of products increasily rapidly once their market share reaches 10%. What out for it!
Why dont they try for full W3C compliance and Javascript standards compliance, rather then just supporting a set of browsers.
I havnt used windows for over a year now... infact it'll be around 1.5 years. Actualy i have used it, but not as my main OS and i havnt owned a window machine for nearly 1 year now. Awww... my firefox search bar has yahoo in it... how did that get in there? :/
:)).
Does anyone use yahoo these days? I thought it was only usful for school kidies (as its what i used to use
So either your smart and you can feel your brain working and you score low, OR your dumb, can't feel your brain working and score low?
I'm confused.
Gee, i never would have guessed

Maybe you'd prefer dodo then. They have static IP, as far as i'm aware.

And what OS was the site running?
Take one guess
"We're growing up," and with any luck future devices won't be crippled with silly formats no one uses.
Does this mean no ogg vorbis?
