The technology already exists and is being used in Mercedes Benz and a few other types of cars. Experienced this first hand driving a rental down the Autobahn a few weeks ago, after about an hour of driving my car told me to get some coffee... it was right, I was getting tired.
I fail to see why police video footage being used to help the NSA track a person of interest is a bad thing? Sounds like the most valid example of proper resource use I've heard in a while....
Back when I fixed computers for the public I used to see a lot of badly organized iTunes libraries. Part of the problem was duff data from Gracenote/CDDB or whatever provider they use. Double albums and compilations were the most problematic, since apparently at the time no-one could agree on a format for tagging those. If course if you bought your music from Apple it was okay, but most people had lots of CDs to rip. Apparently most users didn't know how to fix the problems either.
iTunes was fine if you used it for everything - ripping, buying and syncing. If you wanted to do any of those things with another app though...
... you had to do EVERY FUCKING THING YOURSELF. Which is obviously what you want because you are anal - but smarter people use a program like iTunes for that.
I giggle every time I see an apple purist claiming that they are "smarter" people. I'm sorry, itunes is horrible.
What kind of butter knife are you using that A) fits into the socket and B) has an extra prong to complete the circuit? Although, now that I think about it perhaps your analogy is correct in the sense that the virus is essentially harmless...
Considering I'm usually anti DRM anything, I'm surprisingly ok with Steam DRM. Steam itself is fast, convenient and I've never had the DRM get in the way of me playing a game when I wanted to. They maintain my collection of purchased games which I can re-download without hassle as needed. -- After struggling in the past to find old CD keys and media this is the main reason I love Steam. Your mileage may vary, and I don't care.;)
Last time I checked there wasn't a need for another "open" mobile OS..... Now if they were to open source their TouchPad drivers, that might be something worth doing.
Same here, go for the Nook Color, get a class 10 micro SD card and live happily ever after. Cyanogen Mod works great on mine. Seriously though, you didn't list anything that would actually require root so why does it even matter?
Apple solved this individuality problem by issuing multi-colored bumpers! Whatever perceived antenna issue you heard about was just Google fan-boys putting the iPhone down.
Pardon the ignorance, what are you referencing?
It's called "popular culture".
It's what happens outside basements...
Seems like a rough reply for one of the few people that would openly admit ignorance on Slashdot. ^_^ BitZtream, I commend your initial bravery!

I don't care if I get down modded for life, this made me lol.
Mark my words, your state constitution will be changed or overruled shortly. ;)

THIS.. made me laugh. If I had mod points they'd be yours right now. =P
But after you post on the same article, all your mod points to others go bye bye... ;)
By default most Android phones don't do anything by default but charge until you select a connection option. Go play with one, you might like it. :)
I second this, The Cave is awesome.
Apple malware... it just works! :) I'm so sad my Android phone lacks this plug and play capability, hopefully Google can hurry up and copy them.
Sadly this is true, but at least having Ice Cream Sandwich forced down our proverbial throats sounds palatable. ;)

Too late.. its already here on Slashdot. ;)
Yes... have you been to L.A.? ;)

I think you might low on oxygen in that Apple bubble of yours...
Steve Jobs invented Siri and voice recognition in general, anyone who says otherwise is a stupid Google fanboy.
*cheers* Long live our metallic green overlords!

"Yo Siri! Where dat hot club foo?" = Weather report...... *sigh*
If Steve was still alive he'd be throwing a fit about Ford copying HIS ideas right now.... (Too soon?)
Congrats, your the 1%. You are now free to occupy yourself. =P
