My mother, many years ago, used to IM me when dinner was ready. Easier than her yelling across the house, and I actually understood what she said.
Moving on though. While all these different tech's in the house could get very very strange... I think the news article has it about right. We will get to the point in which everything is networked togethere, then there really wont be any "odd" behaviors or interactions.
I tried this a few days ago (beta). It tried to eat ont of our developers scripts. Then in ate VNC (several different versions). The real time scan is annoying as all hell.
Unless you love, dont use it. Your safer with... anything else (especially common sense)
I work at a company thats a hosted CRM. My first an most important sugestion is: MAKE SURE THE APPLICATION IS EFFECIENT. If you app does alot of unessisary crap in the database or what not, you are screwed no matter what you use.
Past that, The sugestions for a hardware load balancers are right on par. You have (for example) 2 machines hosting the same application, behind a hardware LB. You have a nice SQL machine, you are set. Add machines as needed (the SQL part gets tricky though).
It takes some getting used to temperatures. I personally love the cold, yea I am a bit over weight, but not by so much as to insulate myself at 9F (In t-shirt and shorts)(I just enjoy cold). On the other hand I have a hawaiin friend up here (snow country). When he comes to college in the fall he is wearing a sweater at 80F... By Winter there is snow on the ground and no more than 40F and he is wearing flip flops and T-shirt.
In fact in our office yesterday it was up to about 78F, by that temp most people had their windows in letting the 30F air in just so we wouldnt DIE. Plus, in a "78F" office, have you ever walked into a server closet that doesnt have its own temp control? DEATH... Boil an egg on the floor and the entire deal.
At work, I changed my password to 20 characters recently. Just for fun mainly, but its secure. I got the art of typing it down, so I can type it real fast, thats the key. I mean a 64 char password is great, but if you type it so slowly that the guy next to you can write it down as you type, its no good.
This sounds very very familar to my locale. They do the exact same thing... what a coincadnce.
My personally opinion. Set up everyones computer with virus checkers (any one will do), and MS update and all that jazz. If students know more about computers, let them adjust them acordingly.
while this is cool and will get more people intrested in space travel.... Isnt this comming a little late? I mean the X prize has been out there for a very long time, and now NASA is finally getting into it.
Hopefully we'll be able to hop a flight to the moon in the next 50 years.
I work in a small up-and-comming software company. We have only about 10 people in the main office any given day. I love it in the office because its so relaxed. We order pizza, get our assses kick in starcraft by the boss, etc. Otherwise the office is begie, with blue cubes, the complete norm.
I will say though, office equipment with personality is fun. Like our paper shreader that doesnt seem to stop shreading, it just goes till you turn it off. Lil stuff like that to make for a humerous day.
No. Granted if you look at some like "Thoes Who Hunt Elves" or other echi animes there is more nudity etc. But if you look at something like Love Hina, there is a huge amount of story in the manga that isnt in the anime. Like Haruka's previous relationship with the professor.
While I belive in purchasing the works when they come out in the US. I do download and read manga. For the most part is purdy good, translations are purdy good and the work is done reasonably well.
I enjoy reading the manga after watching the anime myself, that way you get the little nuances and side stories in the manga that arent in the anime.
This is about as far from true as possible, everyone is thinking of sports events and such like that. What about the pro photographers that arent in such accessable areas. Nature Photography anyone? How about some animals? Longer trips into the wilderness?
Now I am not agreeing that 12 gigs is needed for most anyone, but for thoes that go out on longer trips, out of cell ranger or where laptops are too heavy to cary with (backpacking, canoeing?), this is perfect. Its small, and will take alot of pictures.
And as a complete amature photographer myself, I wouldnt mind having 12 gigs (not that I take that many photos, but... its handy) so I dont have to rely on having my laptop around for longer shoots or trips of my own.
that he wasnt arrested for spamming. But eventually enough of these spammers will be arrested (for one reason or another), and hopefully a lot less will spam. Never is spam going to be completly gone, but it will stop all the little small time spammers, and just leave it for the big fish.
My Scanner can scan at 5mgpx per sq inch. So if you just take a normal picture big enough, and scan it... It would be about the same.
It would be a hell of a lot cheaper, seeing is how my scanner was 100$. This 500mgpx camera is probably a big on the pricy side... not to mention what it is attached to.
Its good to see wifi finally being used for something good, something useful. Something other than the ability to surf and drink your starbucks at the same time..
Hey, if you like this, check out mailshell.com Its a nice lil service with lots of other features, and this "tracking" ability comes with it (not even mentioned on their site its such a small bit).
But mailshell does it the same way... img src=some_random_image_?4e3333333
You get the idea, it doesnt give you the geographical crap, but that info is always wrong anyways.
Regardless, this should be intresting. One has to wonder how this will effect the laws. Some places like San Francisco banned segways and related, but if they begin to get more popular... Things may change.

Come on, AVI+DIVX!! !ITS EASY!
It keeps the size down and the quality high. There are divx clients for every OS, even Linux.

My best friend is female. She must at least 100 or so manga, and thats not counting all the ones she has given away or gotten rid of.
Its not that scary.....

Well that is alot of text messages, but I wouldnt want to have that phone bill, even if it was a mistake.
I think that would make me cry... alot.
till AI's write the script and decide stuffs.
When a computer can be told to write a movie, and does everything of its own. THEN, THEN will have an all artifical movie.
Why 12 gigs? Thats not for pro's!

I just got a Nikon D70. 12 Gigs, would do me for about 3,500+ pictures at max quality.
Thats crazy number of pictures, hell, I have harddrives that are smaller than that CF card.

Or at least I hope. No Spam is good.

Wow... 500 megs.. Niceeeee.
I want one of these, too bad I just bought a new nikon d70. Its almost as good as having 500 megspx.
Its good to see wifi finally being used for something good, something useful. Something other than the ability to surf and drink your starbucks at the same time..
I wonder what their range on thoes things is?

This is an all new low. Now virus programmers will have to make their virus's better so they dont get infected by another virus.
I think everyone should go ultra secure, the best firewall ever... Disconnect from the net. It would make this all alot easier on us.
Slashdoted already!!!
Regardless, this should be intresting. One has to wonder how this will effect the laws. Some places like San Francisco banned segways and related, but if they begin to get more popular... Things may change.
And honestly, I have only seen one segway IRL.
