He only proves the one thing many people here know, that most hackers are idiots.
Hollywood is who convinces the public otherwise, showing hackers to be... computer experts, spyware experts, banking experts, encryption experts, wear designer clothing, able to run a 4second 40yard dash, and swoon woman like the latest Hollywood star.
The rest of know that most people who hack do so because they don't have the attention span to hold down real jobs, don't have the skills to interact with a team of people on a face to face basis, and couldn't get a date unless they had money.
Then again, maybe Hollywood is right, and only the dumb ones get caught.
Looking to Greenpeace for facts is like looking to Salon for the same.
The issue that arises is, do any of the doomsayers really know what it means for this large chunk of ice to separate from the main flow? We just don't have enough historical data to honestly say what effect it will truly have. As proved countless times, mother nature does more damage to computer models than those same models predict we do to her.
"No airport security agent should ever be unprofessional like that (which is why I support the federalization program currently in progress in the US). But the guy had to be inspected. "
No. Federalization has nothing to do with professionalism. It will simply make the matter worse. Against a private company screener you could stand a fair chance to recover damages, against the Federal Government your toast.
Government screeners know they are immune to most things a private company employee would have to worry about, and they willingly use the threat of the law (Read : the whole GOVERNMENT) to exploit those who must pass through their lines. How many stories have you read about sleeping "professional federal agents" or having metal detectors unplugged while operated by "professional federal agents"? I have seen many, and they come each week.
Don't fall for that bullshit line from the DNC, Professionalism DOES NOT EQUAL Federalism. If this was such a good idea then why don't the European countries support federalized airport security? Simple : Accountability.
considering that we still only see a fraction of what there is to see. What will happen when the Hubble sees it better in the future?
I think its much easier to declare black with small bright spots. At least the public can understand that.
I am still curious as to what significance this really has overall. It appears from the article that it was just for the fun of it, so how does it become news? Originality?

Actually its more appealing because of just how much it could benefit these areas of research. Don't forget that the first American space program that eventually sent man to the moon was the basis for many technologies we take for granted today.
There is reason to believe that the obstacles overcome to support man living on the moon or venturing to Mars would also produce such technological findings that many seemingly unrealated areas would benefit.
I thing power production, the environment, and manfucturing would be the 3 key areas of benefit, and from them others areas would benefit as well.
You can almost guarantee getting nuked if you accidently state something in favor of MS, Republicans, Big Business, the RIAA, and whatnot. Even if the point is valid there are far to many people who use their moderator access to remove dissenting views.
Considering the costs they presented, let alone the fact it will still be free but with ads, no discounts are needed. (well maybe a buck or two if we kick in with wedding gifts.... )

Damn if I am going to buy yet another DVD that is mostly silent. The theater version was so many times better than the Director's Cut. It seemed as if so much of the story was discarded.
The voice over advances the story, gives the audience something to latch on to. All I see is a director who feels more important that his film.
Let him have his version, but at least give us the choice. I don't need to have more of the movie hacked out because of the silence (as he comments on the blimp scene... yes it would drag if you left it in without voiceover... shouldn't that be a clue?)
They keep saying its got great dual channel performance, I haven't found a review comparing two nforce boards where on uses 1 dimm and another uses 2.
Anyone got one? I want to see if this is a real bandwidth bonus or just some slick advertising. If it were truly as powerful as they state then something must be horribly wrong with 64bit access.
Sorry, but the over the top claim that these are mutant flies begs a response.
The idea is that after the attempt to eradicate with pesticide is used these sterile flies are released to compete with non-sterile flies for mating privledges. Since the mating window is short the time occupied by these sterile flies should help reduce the reproductive capability of the swarms.
Too many people die from the disease they carry, and ignorant ranting about it does these people a big disservice.
Unfortunately it is a very common tactic of the eco-terrorist groups to portray something in the harhest possible light even when they know they are lieing. Seems that sometimes they think their view is more important than the lives of the people who could be saved.
If anything they are so "hands off" on matters that most people complain about the LACK OF enforcement .
The issue here is, if trades like this are allowed who is ultimately responsible for their validness?
The fact remains that when trades go sour the scammed person usually goes to the host of the game to get it fixed, even when they know that is wasn't allowed in the first place and heavily warned against.
Its time to ditch this candy-ass approach where we are afraid of hurting people's feelings when it comes to airport security.
Because of this we have an invasive system being put in place instead of a far simpler but less politically correct one.
Fact is, if the criminal matched certain criteria that is the criteria you use for your search. You don't accost 90 year old NUNs just to be fair.
Political correctness will deprive MORE people of their freedom than effective profiling.

Sorry, but it does prove one thing. The climates of planets is many times beyond our pale ability to understand or have an effect on.
Are we so egotistical to believe we can readily affect the Earths climate? We would seriously have to try very hard to make a noticable effect. A single volcano outdid us in 3 days... reducing sunlight striking the earth!
Yes we have pollution issues, but the fact remains that that 23 months of Mars data is very similar in one way to the earth, both are attempting to extrapolate what the resulting climates will become with limited data.
We simply don't have enough data to prove one way or another for the Earth
