China certainly thinks that it is worth displacing more than 1.5 million people for a single hydroelectric dam.
It's a big ass dam dude, it's 5 times the size of the Hoover dam and stretches for over 600 kilometers.
Oh, and the figure I read was 1.6 million displaced, but the article was a bit old.
Following a ruling from a Virginia federal court that Cox is not protected by the safe-harbor provisions of the DMCA, the Internet provider must now deal with another setback.
I say we should start a new Olympics. Like we have one for disabled people we should have one for people who can take whatever drugs they like, can use any new fancy dangled tech they want. I would pay to watch that! 100 meter sprint and two people hearts explode. AWESOME!
They want to replace the entire Google cloud services infrastructure with Microsoft services.
You hit the nail on the head there, and I think that is one of the main reasons for the delay/abandonment of this project. Even if they could get an approximation of Googles services up and running they would probably run into a wall of lawyers, so even if it was technically feasible (albeit extremely complicated) would it be legally feasible?
Clearly you are trolling, a simple google of "C & C server" tells you exactly what it is in the first link.
If you are not, then perhaps you should not be reading/. posts if you can't figure out how to google.
Teaching people to code is not done overnight, or after a few lessons. All this will do is create a bunch of people who "think" they can code, which is annoying to those of us who know how to code.
Yeah, but the thing is you could fix it with a Swiss Army Knife in the dark
Try that with a modern car.
Not saying to bring it back, but there is something to be said to being able to fix things instead of simply replacing them when you get a replacement part.
And they may very well be innocent. Just because some developer has found a way to milk their advertising for personal profit does not mean that they were behind the malware, just that they are a bunch of douches serving adverts. To be honest, would they even care? They want their adverts to be seen regardless of how it's done.
Exactly, have them chasing their tails and looking in all the wrong places.
I knew a company who outsourced all their stuff, they kept insisting that we send them files, kept telling them we don't send ANYONE files, but we do send swift messages. Even had to go to their office for a meeting about the files we send them. So somewhere in their building the previous developers had set up a server, which was receiving switft messages from us and writing them to a file. I don't know if they ever found the server.
Not so much a "luxury" item as a waste of money. it is common for the 44% of rural households having access to electricity to lose power for more than 12 hours each day from Rolling Blackouts
What's the point in having a fridge when there is no power?
and have to operate in a higher RPM range to haul cargo and/or passengers
Increasing wear and tear and drastically reducing the life of the vehicle.
Ever hear someone say, "the don't make stuff to last anymore"?
Well now you know why (in part at least) stuff doesn't last as long as they used to.
No, I fail to see why software that my team and I have spent months/years writing should be open sourced so you can download and change it for free. Open source has it's place, but making money is generally not one of them. Sure there are exceptions, but the vast majority of open source software is written by people for free. One last thing most people outside the IT industry don't realise is that writing software is VERY expensive, that expense needs to be justified and recouped otherwise it won't get done.
Windows made working with CLI difficult intentionally, so in Windows you will almost always work faster in the GUI.
Erm, no. Windows made it so you COULD use the GUI instead of the CLI.
In linux you HAVE to use the CLI.
FYI, I use windows as my primary OS, at work and at home, and I use the CLI in windows all the time.
Probably not, but you are forgetting one thing - old stuff sells. A Zippo lighter from that era would easily fetch $300, add in the place it was found etc. and you will probably get a lot more. Also you don't "risk the bends" it's bloody painful and can cause all sorts of permanent damage.
Of course the terrorists won, same as the drug dealers, and the Vietnamese and North Korea. America is good at starting wars, not so good at actually finishing them (other than world war 2, kudo's for that, you ended it by blowing away two cities full of civilians). Although arguably the fire bombing of Tokyo did more damage, and lets not forget Dresden.
that the team brought in a group of lightly-built female researchers
And if you had bothered to RTFA you would have seen that whilst narrow the opening is relatively straight, and you can always push / pull your gear through, you don't HAVE to be wearing everything.
For all we know they have already taken over upper management, it would explain some of the fucked up decisions that are being made in the upper echelons.

I still maintain a CE 5 system for a logistics company. Written in VB (puke) no less. I have to install VS 2008 to make code changes.

It was so important they had to say it twice!

if you want to have a guaranteed return by Treasury Bonds
And even that is not a guaranteed return.
Yeah, and you seem to be rather loud.

And move everything to the Cloud!
I doubt that it was destroyed at that depth, that depth is just where it ended up AFTER it was damaged and could not surface.

Lol, I would mod you up if I had points.
