    So why does it look like they'll be going for GPLv3 instead of v2 for Solaris and Java stuff then, if that is less attractive to companies? Perhaps what you meant was; Some companies like v2 better than v3.

    You must be brought up on the US style two-party system where the two parties are practically identical, vs. the kind we have in many european countries.

    BoB certainly will get more people in that any other alliance, yet you still end up with a significant number of people with other alliances.

    Are you saying it is not primarily meant as a testbed for future improvements to the C++ library? I never said it is not _intended_ for such, just about what was the primary goal of the project.

    The project was started by members of the C++ Standard Committee for this purpose.

    Erhmm... As I read the two parent comments, it's obvious you don't know _what_ boost really is.

    It's not primarily meant for production use, rather it is a _testbed_ for future improvements to the C++ standard library. Pretty much a place where they intentionally test the bounds of the C++ language and check what kind of features would make sense in the standard.

    Why are people so obsessed with dialing?... How often do you actually do that?

    You got pretty much everyone you know whom you're likely to call already in your address book, and the few times you actually need to enter a phone number will be when you didn't look it up on through google.

    We've already gotten 35 years out of C, and it is still going strong. Not as much used at it used to be, but not insignificant.

    In addition to that, you could say that the C we have today is an old 'stable' fork of that language, which is now moving ahead in the form of C++.

    There's probably no better way to leak information than 'fucking' up a redaction. You then have a document from official sources and the leaker can feign incompetence with technology.
