Stargate sg-1 recently featured an online companion to the current episode that was only visible while the show was actually being aired. This seems like a very simple and effective way to encourage people to watch the show as it airs and not to TiVo it for later viewing.
Yeah, the article poster mentioned that they did "little damage". I don't think destroying.sav files with 95% probability on local and remote drives constitutes little damage.
Retailers have been listing release dates that are no where near anything official for years now. If retailers were right, I would have had HL2 on 11/15 like they promised. It's been shown OVER AND OVER AGAIN that retailers don't know ANY more about game release dates than average joe game buyer.
I honestly can't believe that slashdot even accepted this story let alone posted it on the main page.
If you want REAL game news, go to shacknews.com. People who actually play games and talk to game publishers and developers hang out on / run that site.
(no I'm not a shack troll, this is honestly my experience)
Your link is busted, but most lifetime sub units on ebay are hacked. It's nearly trivial to trick your directivo into thinking it has a lifetime sub. (Not that I've done it, I GLADLY pay $5/month for the functionality tivo gives me)
I really didn't like the ROTK game. I loved TTT, but ROTK fails miserably for only one reason.
The camera.
Most of the time while playing the game it is difficult to even see your character. Many enemies will gather around you and beat the living daylights out of you with little chance for you to retaliate because you have no idea where you are. Even if you know that you're in a general area, timing attacks is nearly impossible because your character is COMPLETELY HIDDEN. Even if you're doing relatively well, one enemy can completely obstruct your viewpoint and render your fighter invisible.
I really wanted to like this game because TTT was so much fun, but ROTK is a perfect example of how an otherwise well produced game can completely fail (IMO) because of a single problem.
The Mario Party series is great if you have a GCN. It's just like playing a board game with action or puzzle oriented mini games that occur after everyone has taken a turn.
Also, even if you don't like sports games try Mario Golf and Mario Kart (especially the new Double Dash which allows 2 players to operate the same vehicle, one drives, one aims and shoots turtle shells and those sorts of things). Mario Golf is fun even if you don't like sports games or golf (me).
That being said, I hate super mario sunshine and most actual mario brothers games.
And my story about this review of Mario 64 was rejected.
The nerve.
I know no one will see this but....

Here is a good review for those of you who dislike Tom's Hardware as much as I do.
This review isn't biased and has useful information.
Oh and those of you who think that 4x dvd writing isn't reliable should buy this drive, it's fantastic. If a Plextor product claimes it can do something, you can trust that it will.
Can you provide further details about this situation? I'm not as experienced as others, but I also have not had any problems with multiple syspreps. I often update older images and sysprep and reghost with no problems whatsoever.
The delay has not yet been confirmed by VALVe. Last time VU said there was going to be a delay, VALVe spoke up and said that everything was still on track for Sept 30 (and we know how well that worked out). It was noted at that time that VU has no control over the games release and any OFFICIAL word about the release date comes from VALVe, not the publisher (VU). I'm surprised that/. even posted this story. I guess, though, that if Yahoo considers it news, so does/.
According the NFO file being distributed with the now CONFIRMED "prerelease" or beta version of HL2, "To myg0t: this is too big for you to take credit:p - Anonymous leaker"
If this is just the source for the "source" engine or does this include EVERYTHING, maps, etc. At only 100 megs unpacked, it seems like it's just the engine.

So far the only "proof" that the economy is ruined, as so many people are claiming, is that lame ass screen shot.
A lot of people are getting worked up over what probably amounts to nothing.
You're kind of an idiot, aren't you?
Automatically assuming that the monitor must be at fault as the original poster suggested is less than insightful.
Someone please mod this knuckledhead as a troll...
You may have a fairly well trained eye, but your brain is obviously not.

I can't believe anyone even reads that site anymore. Anandtech is the new king. (for some time now I might add)

This site claims to be run by nerds, right?

recording shows based on your viewing habits which is one of the things I find repulsive about TiVo
EASILY disabled on TiVo.
Otto!
Good to hear from you!
(no you don't know me, but I always enjoyed your posts)

My wife got a kick out of me playing Final Fantasy X. She really enjoyed the story and the strategy involved in defeating enemies.
Serious Sam for PC has network co-op if you're into FPS. LOTS of fun!

Here's a video of part of this guys marathon run....
Try ATI's FireGL line.
They're expensive, offer dual DVI and are based on the 9700 and 9800 (top of the line 3d performance).

Good question. Hehe, seriously though, congrats!
Why is a polish firm releasing studies about the internet? I'm not likely to believe anything that Kiwi says about the internet.
Twice the slashdot, twice the productivity.
We can't afford to.

Again, this new beta or prerelease has been played by many people now (no, not including me). See neowin.net for details.
