I heard a rumor (which I never bothered to check) that the Wizards-of-the-Coatse plaza in Seattle's University district went out of business. If that's true, then I suspect I know where Paul Allen's 3-floor-sci-fi shrine will be located at.
Now Linux 2.6 will have "good SMP". Not the best, good though. FreeBSD will probably scale OK to a few processors, don't kid yourself it will have "the best" SMP.
True. I don't think either of them are on a par with Solaris or any other unix quite yet. At least they're better than OpenBSD, however!
The Beijing police "hotmail" has received more than 200 communications, including 69 e-mails, from local residents since it was opened a month ago, a spokesman with the Beijing Public Security Bureau said Tuesday.
The bureau has classified all the communications, and dealt with those within their responsibility, while sending others to the relevant departments for resolution, the spokesman said.
Beijing citizens reported clues to robberies, prostitution, sales of fake certificates, pornographic VCDs and security breaches.
The police "hotmail" was opened for the public to report on criminal and security issues in the capital, and mails to "Mailbox 110" are free. E-mails can be sent to www.bjgaj.gov.cn. The police have promised to keep all information and details of the senders confidential.
Slashdot runs on PERL. Python may indeed be better documented, but PERL is more suited to larger projects and it's more readily available than is Python. Just IME and IMHO.
Traditionally I've always found the FreeBSD rescue cd to be indispensible. Before that, I used the two boot floppies from slackware (and still use that version of fdisk when the need arises.)
I (kinda) disagree. At least regarding the *BSDs. If they can get the program to work under linux compatibility mode (ala' Oracle, IIRC); then it will hit all open OSes (except, perhaps, HURD and OSX).

Would be a neat location!
If you'd have included the words eff and pee in your post somewhere, you'd have gotten the +1 bonus.
...from the iron fist in the velvet glove?
Do you find telemarketers a problem? If no, how is it you've managed to deal with them?
Whatever Microsoft TELLS THEM to think about this.
(I may get an -1 redundant since that is the whole reason for the DMCA. Oh well. )
Microsoft and Sun are commiting to buying AMD's 64 bit chip...Oh Shit!!
This in NO WAY implies we live in a police state.
What is the cost of living like in India?
If it's decent, does that mean that there's a greater chance that Open Source will spread with the easier availability of iso's and ftp installs?
WTF is up with the net today?!?!?
Taxes. It's my anti-drug.
"oh, the internet. is that thing still around?"
So, if I see a link on one of those boards to a film called "two hands and a stretched anus", does that mean I should NOT click on it? ;^)
Glad it's "mirrored" here, then; since Jesus Geeks appears to be down (at least from where I am at).
at SMP, I mean.

Never tried it myself; but with the right serial/network links you can easily do an install/restore over the 'NET.

does it run on windows? ;)

I could play my backed up *.wma files under *BSD (if it's ported to linux, it'll eventually make it to BSD. :)
Only until the LSD wore off.
the KGB would have loved this.
huh? what're you all looking at me like that for?
