Not just that, either, (although I think you're right) but after watching Ford on Inside the Actor's Studio it really seems like he wants to sort of be distanced from Star Wars, as he really dodged or noncommittally answered several of the Star Wars questions, IIRC even seeming to forget the droids' names. That was kind of disappointing since Han is really pretty much the best character from the original trilogy, and the one character that you can totally point to and say "there's no one like HIM in the new trilogy". To me and a lot of other fans, I'm sure, he kind of represents the whole difference between the two trilogies. The new ones have no Han-type character and are worse off for it, something it seems George realizes way too late.
//My mom ever so recently was told to upgrade by her ISP; in fact they told her to buy a whole new computer or else they wouldn't support her.//
Hey, people out there with 300MHZ/32MB setups on Win95/98 need to friggin upgrade their pcs. I work for a tech support firm and one of our clients recently dropped support for Win9X (yes!). Windows Update no longer works for 98 users, thereby leaving their systems quite insecure (since so often to fix problems, the hard drive is formatted and the OS reinstalled) and a true hazard for the rest of the Internet, not to mention a hassle to support as the driver database is so small, the networking implementation so crappy, etc. etc.
I was a bit skeptical about WinDiz Update at first, but it actually seems to work pretty well. All the updates show up in Add/Rem Progs properly and everything's as stable as it ever was, so they must have installed okay as far as I can tell. It's actually a bit quicker than Windows Update too (big surprise, eh?).
I use that one, too, have for years! CTMELODY.WAV is what mine's called, you can even find it online all over the place, which is what I had to do when my last hard drive died.
Simulators. Particularly the ultra-realistic flight sims.
Sure, not going to advance our culture in the same way as a piece of art, but there are plenty of people out there playing simulators that don't play anything else, and often comprise a completely different demographic than your standard PC gamer.
See, I always thought that was true, too. Then, last spring, I got a GeForce 6600GT.
Happy with the performance but of course curious about what else could be done with the card on a software level, I quickly located a file online named CoolBits.reg. This file adds an entry to the GeForce Properties section for Clock Frequency Settings. This setting lists the current clock speed of both memory and core in 2D and 3D, and includes a handy button that says 'Detect Optimal Frequencies'. I have run this feature and after a couple of minutes my 3D settings had been adjusted to 579MHz core (default is 500) and 1060MHz memory (default 900). So far I have used these settings, with no additional system cooling, without any trace of a glitch or hang in the only game I play, Battlefield 2. That game is fairly choosy in regards to hardware (to put it mildly) and doesn't even support the 6600GT AGP chipset, but I have no more issues with the auto-overclocked settings than I did before, and the overall in-game smoothness has improved subtly but noticeably.
I'm not sure if my results are typical, this is my first attempt at overclocking anything.
//What they mean to do is push the new HD-DVD or Blu Ray technology, even if it's not on the store shelves just yet. What's desired is to whip up a frenzy -- to make it a self fulfilling prophecy.//
I definitely agree with this, but such strategies are laughable to someone like me. I just got my first DVD burner a few months ago, once I basically saw that they were down to around $40 and the media is quickly approaching the price of CDRs. So, as soon as I can get a nice Blu Ray/RW drive for $50 and discs for 50 cents a pop, I'm there -- but not before. And most other people are late adopters, too, from what I've seen anyway.
However, these are simply Porters, Stouts, etc. that are brewed as they would normally be but with the addition of coffee, being a complimentary and intuitive adjunct since roasted malts frequently contribute a coffeeish, roasty sort of malt bitterness and flavor to many dark beers.
In fact, this Nestle product wouldn't even seem to be eligible to be called beer since it doesn't appear to contain malt, a prime ingredient of beer along with water, hops and yeast.
Hmm, I actually have a posted rating for this stuff, so this was my take on it, anyway:
(750ml bottle, 9% abv.) Spicy, herbal, fruity, sweet and flowery aroma, the honey and white grape additions very apparent. Golden yellow in color, bubbly, with an ivory colored head. Grainy, sweet barley malt flavor, some esters and honey, finishing with a warming alcoholic flourish. Thick, syrupy texture. Interesting indeed, but not necessarily something I'll be looking to sample often. Score: 3.4 out of 5.
You could always just buy a third party silent VGA cooler. Just remove the stock cooling array and attach. $20 for a good one at most places around here.
The 256MB 6600 apparently doesn't need a fan because it's not even close to performing as well as the 6600GT.
Who immediately gets the Beck song "Novacane" stuck in their heads whenever they read anything about Longhorn?
"Got so numb, longhorn drum Detonate with the suicide gate Test tube, stillborn days Telescope rays in the rabies haze Got the momentum, radioactive Meltdown!"
Let your Guinness warm up. You'll find it has much more flavor and aroma that way.* The Guinness Extra Stout is best, I find, when consumed at somewhere between cellar and room temperature.
This is true of virtually all ales that are worth drinking, and a rather high percentage of quality lagers (as in "bottom-fermented beers", not meant in the "fizzy and yellow" sense) as well.
Actually, at an air show I attended 15 years ago or so at Richards-Gebaur AFB (now decommissioned) I saw an A-10 for sale in a hangar there. Obviously the gun and racks were removed.
Get him a gift cert. to a local computer/misc. electronics store. If you have a Fry's or Micro Center near you, so much the better. I defy any geek to walk into a store like that with a $100 gift card and not walk out with anything.
Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to Slashdot a web server is insignificant compared to the power of the Force.
This thread is already 5th on Google, 4th if you count the Slashtags link!

How much for bamalance as an Adword??
And, ever-helpful --
Did you mean: bambalance
But if this system is apparently that capable, wouldn't it factor all of these things into your pattern?

I still use the SB Live! Value card, too...

Well, since he can't hear it, apparently, why don't you just wait for him to leave home or go to sleep, then go turn it off?
Will recognize this as being similar to the point defense laser mounted on the US Paladin tanks.
Except that, as pointed out, this is not likely to use a laser but a standard projectile sort of weapon to accomplish the same purpose.

There are actually a ton of coffee beers, although not in the same sense as the article suggests:
http://www.ratebeer.com/ and search for 'coffee', 'mocha' or 'java'.

Er, I mean, FTP, what's that??

He means how well Windows runs when it's getting low on drive space, i.e. swap space.
And he's right, it doesn't do well at all. I'd have at least 1GB free for playing a game like UT2k4, depending on how much RAM is installed.
