What exactly was the point of your post? There are differences between the OS's which must be dealt with. But I guess you had so much pent up rage you just had to post your anti-MS flame against the first post you saw?
$2 per episode is still far too high for custom picked content IMO, even if you only watch one or two shows your iTune bill is going to quickly exceed whatever cable would be.
But still, I'm glad to see some mainstream, popular service starting up - it's only a matter of time before someone tries to outdo iTune's service, which in this case, is quite easy to do.
Other than the forthcoming Oblivion (if it's as advertised), FPS typically have more advanced AI than any RPG i've ever seen. Most RPGs are prescripted. Far Cry actually had some pretty good AI - good enough that you could intelligiently fool it (like you throw a rock or shoot they come to see what is going on, while you sneak away and flank them....good stuff!) I wish someone would replicate the location based damage of Golden Eye...I mean how long ago didn't that game come out? Why is it so hard to get this right?
Heh kind of reminds me of the book titled "Blind Lake" (sorry can't remember the author) Basically they had a super telescope getting more and more detail, hooking it up super computers for further analysis of the data, and more and more data starts pouring in from the computers in greater and greater detail...even after the original telescopes stop working!
My only gripe with Maxon is their "upgrade" paths or lack thereof - I made the mistake of buying core, then BP1 separately (then 8.5 upgrade from 8)...now i'm stuck and the only way forward is to basically re-buy studio from scratch. Sidegrading gets a better deal than upgrading, so if I wanted to save money I could've but Carara (lol can't remember how to spell it!) and then side graded.
Great product though - just buy studio from the get go!
Going on dates, attractiveness between sims, extra options are actually the main draw for Sims 2 fans here..namely my wife who loves that people can get downright pissed at each other now. Extra objects are really a bonus, not the focus IMO.
She was giggling with glee as her bisexual Sim did "woohoo" with another Sim in front of the other Sim's ex, and then the two Sims getting in a fight afterwards.
I don't understand how this helps - if you install application "X" you expect to trust it, and I assume you grant it privileges to run on your machine etc. So great, now the app can run on your machine...you trust it...but what's to stop it from having a heyday with your system?
Now i'm sure Dell has thought of this, what with viability and all...but aren't Li-Po batteries a little dodgy? They offer the best power density, apparently really good stuff that way, but I know if they overcharge *or* even undercharge they like to swell, and then catch fire. At least that's what is a very real possibility with R/C LiPo batteries. (People sometimes will charge them in a fireplace - not lit naturally - or some other safe spot, and sometimes they will even have a spot handy to put their battery if it starts swelling. Often voltage meters etc are necessary to make sure you aren't discharging the battery too far)
I'm sure this is more advanced, but I actually have an RC Orinthopter on order that I got for like $55, should be here in a week or so - it flys by flapping it's wings and has a twisty tail for a rudder.
Not sure if I can use it to collect spice yet or not!
Bottom line I loved this game and had fun, and I'll probably go through it again following the way of the closed fist. The cinematics, production values, and story are all top notch.
Really JE only has one huge problem:
Load Times....just plain awful load times. I found myself "cheating" (switching to easy) just to avoid having to reload yet again. I think about three times I did this; just before boss battles that had UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENES plus the loading, just plain frustrating.
It felt like the C64 days at times...
But the reset of the game is just so good that I was able to look past it. The PC version may help in this regard.
But to Blizzard: *NEVER NEVER NEVER* MAKE ME WATCH A CUTSCENE EVER NO EXCEPTIONS! If I miss something important, TS for me, but if it's the third time through it just annoys me. The loading, well they could've had some scenes instantly reloadable, other than that I'm not sure what choice they had.
But lest you think otherwise, this game is awesome.
Somewhere I have (several) discs containing XSI:EXP 3d software, have never installed it, but as I understand it was to be the app used with HL2, so are Maya and 3ds in addition to XSI, or instead of it? Apparently part of the delay way back when was Valve suddenly switching their whole workflow to the XSI platform.
I'm not saying that piracy is right, but it's just plain not the same thing as stealing a car. If you steal a car the car is gone. If you copy software, the original is still there...now you haven't paid the authors and that is still illegal, but on the other hand it hasn't taken anything away from them either...it has only removed potential revenues, assuming you were going to buy the thing anyways. If you steal a car you've just cost a person or a company thousands of dollars.
ZBrush 2 is something you definitely need to check out - it's an odd program, hard to pigeonhole, it's 2.5 painting, with 3D modelling - i think it's www.pixologic.com. I've been messing with the demo (1.5) for a little bit and it's just wild - it frees you from worrying about technical stuff and you can just sort of sculpt your 3d stuff - and it does UVW mapping for you...hopefully I can dig up the $500 or so it cost though! I've also heard great things about MODO and Silo, but haven't checked them out (I'm not sure but i think MODO is mac only). My own app is Cinema 4D 8.5 with Bodypaint 3D and Mesh Surgery, great app - but ZBrush is almost something entirely new in my experience.
No the last thing we need is flying personal vehicles of any sort. SUV or not the dangers are the same. It's just a stupid idea given how stupid people can be with their ground vehicles.
Um do you have any freaking clue just how big lake Ontario is? This isn't some tiny pond we're talking about here and the water goes back in and cools again. And I'm sure in a project meant to be environmentally friendly they'll have checked out the environmental impact! Yeah but you're brilliant with your two second karma whorin' FP attempt.
Okay this arguing back and forth about how firefox is teh sux0rs or not is pointless and doesn't further the Linux desktop thing one iota...if I want Firefox, and I have Windows, guess what? I can still run Firefox, I love it. Yet I still have IE if I do find a site that's "broken", which seem to be few and far between anyways.
So just take web browsers out of this Linux/Windows war and concentrate on other things!
If there was a truly comfortable, intuitive, and usable reader with a wide selection of books then I might be interested. You need to be able to read under any light, and it can't be any more cumbersome than your standard novel. The graphics would have to be print quality.
And obviously the price would have to be reasonable, probably less than $100.
I don't buy magazines anymore - you just don't get enough bang for your buck - the worst was 3D World, although great, but it's like $15-$20 per issue, with the money i saved not renewing my subscription I bought an upgrade for my 3D application:)
And game magazines, which I used to buy, are pointless, as everything and more is available on the net.
Magazines are nice for on the can though - but buying a novel gets me a lot more bang for my buck.
I didn't read it that they were going to backconvert every doc, just that they'd be switching to the new document format in 2007.

Seems to me that by definition, it's the global warmies that are the ones spreading FUD.
How about ants, wasps, and hornets?
Why ebay of course...here is a similar item:

Yes because you are accomplishing great things by posting on /. instead, very great things indeed!

Guess what? I'm a Canadian too,a nd I don't recall making you "our" spokesperson!

I think we're aloud to download music anyways, so long as they insist on the stupid duty on blank media and MP3 players!
