Wow out here on the east coast, Karaoke had a big upswing. I can tell you where you can go any night to find it. I think Guitar Hero and Rock Band may have had much to do with the karaoke comeback. Unfortunately good live music seems to be suffering. All anyone is hiring these days are cover bands and DJ's. The lack of interest in anything original is very depressing.

HA, many "Karaoke Labels" had no rights to a lot of the songs they added to their cd+g's. It is not difficult to create a CD+g either, the software to attempt vocals removal is pretty pervasive. I bet you can find more tools for creating a karaoke cds or mp3s then you can find for playing them.
This niche market was mostly built up by piracy.

I call crap. I have recieved one of those and all that bs about the file calling back and reporting you is total crap. What happened is that persons ip got noticed because they violated the copyrights owners rights. Cox was then issued a DMCA request against that user. Cox was following the law and not doing anything creepy or wrong. That is why your submission will never get posted.

It tells you in the notice why your DNS was rerouted and what you have to do to restore it.

Don't blame Cox for the users actions.

Wow since you based your entire rant on a misconception it really was hard to read. ISP's are not common carriers, or do that want to be. They are labeled ESPs (Enhanced Service Providers). This gives them certain protections but does not limit them from choosing what services they offer. The owners of the actual lines are common carriers but the ISPs, the ones offering services on those lines, are not.

    WRONG WRONG WRONG

It is a myth that ISPs are common carriers, if they were then the safe harbor provision of the DMCA would be redundant. Please stop spreading this myth and to those who modded you informative please learn the law.

  15. Re:That pill is poison. on Anti-Piracy Firm Offering ISPs Money For Outing File-Sharers · · Score: 1

We really need a mod for flat out wrong. This is not insightful as no ISP is considered a common carrier, The correct term for this types of service providers is Enhanced Service Providers (ESP).

"Enhanced service, essentially, is defined as everything else. This is the category of Internet Service Providers. In order to devise a bright line test, the Commission determined that where a service is offered with any level of enhancement, it is generally considered an enhanced service:

For the purpose of this subpart, the term 'enhanced service' shall refer to services, offered over common carrier transmission facilities used in interstate communications, which employ computer processing applications that act on the format, content, protocol or similar aspects of the subscriber's transmitted information; provide the subscriber additional, different, or restructured information; or involve subscriber interaction with stored information.

Examples of enhanced services include Internet access service, online service, computer bulletin boards, video dialtone, voice mail, electronic publishing, and others. The mere fact that a network is packet-switched does not necessarily mean that it is an enhanced service. "

So can we please stop this misinformation.
