If I were given the choice of being set for life, or being still more ridiculously rich at the expense of my dignity, I'd definitely choose the former.
I know someone who works at a company that resells massive numbers of drives. They highly recommend samsung. I have 4 of their drives myself. They've all worked fine till last week when my 4 year old 80gb one finally bit the dust after being knocked against a tile floor.
The chinese government can be "evil", but it's not AFAIK corrupt (in the takes-bribery sense at least). Makes sense, because the penalty to taking a bribe in China is death (there were some five executions last month IIRC).
ummmm.....
"Levels of corruption could not simply be ascribed to the low moral standards of the corrupt officials (involved), but also loopholes in administrative mechanism," said Li Peilin, deputy director of the Institute of Sociology under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
They are well deserved to be in the list of over paid profession. Plus they have to be about the whiniest people I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
As someone just starting out and trying to make it in the photo industry let me say fuck you. It's not easy.
Anyway, caveat emptor. No one twisted your arm when you signed that model release at the studio.
Even then, they live like bachelor slobs in Condos, not even a real house.
The housing market has changed a lot you know. Here in LA it's damned near impossible to get a house without a lot of money. And I WISH I could afford a condo, an apartment is it for me atm (oc I'm only 20).
As an avid user of photoshop, and someone who is generally unfriendly to MS even I must say that this review is total crap. After reading this review I have no idea what features Acrylic has really, the only things compared are the brushes, image navigation, and plugins.
What about things like how it performs in a digital camera workflow, prepress workflow, web design workflow, etc. I have no idea from this how this program handles color spaces, vectors, or myriad other features. Hell, this review doesn't even mention how well it supports type.
The lack of discussion regarding acrylic's vector capabilities is the most damning thing since acrylic uses a ton of code from an acclaimed vector program (Creature House Expression) Microsoft bought from another company.
I've been waiting for a decent review of Acrylic, but this is not it. It should also be mentioned that Adobe Photoshop has a truly massive featureset which almost no one uses in full. It's a bigass swiss army knife with different facets used by different industries. Duplicating the functionality of such a program should take a VERY long time, give MS a little break here.
Psychiatrists and psychologists are often to blame, another problem is general practitioners who hand out prozac like candy. Administering these drugs takes a lot of knowledge and experience, I know far too many people who get their anti-depressants straight from their GP. These drugs really should only be prescribed by psychiatrists. Hell, finding a decent psychiatrist (I was misdiagnosed by 3 very highly paid ones) is hard enough, having a completely unequiped GP administer these is one of the worst aspects of the current US medical system.
Bipolar disorder, which you mention, is often not diagnosed, especially not in the milder cases (which I have). It's quite amazing how wildly the quality of psychiatrists varies.
To say that Lucas is an excellent visual film maker is to be too broad. He cannot compete with Coppola, Kubrick, or Fellini. Lucas is an excellent art director, but mediocre to terrible in every other department. His blueprint for the Star Wars universe, their ships, uniforms, etc. are extremely well done and have been amazingly influential and rightly so.
However, the cinematography on A New Hope is mediocre and rather straightforward. Compared to The Empire Strikes Back the cinematography is trash. Lucas has taken a turn from mediocre to terrible however with the release of the newest 3 star wars. The editing transitions (wipes, constantly) are amateurish looking even, and the universe looks cartoonish. I havn't seen Sith yet, but the two that preceeded it lacked any of the gravitas of the originals. They look like crappy fakery.
It's not that it's a bad story, I liked the story, unfortunately, Roland's self-serving self-linking is what puts me, and so many other slashdotter's off.
He blatantly rips off content to get cheap hits on his site for ad revenue.
If somebody were really offended by Roland, they'd know that the best way to get this guy off the air is to not up the post count by bitching about him.
That's monumentally stupid. You're saying that a higher percentage of posts complaining about said post will help him? Esp. when said post is rated at +5 and has community support?
I've been a member of this website for years and I just want to voice the fact that I'm pissed off at yet another Roland Piquepaille article. And yes, I'm posting this at +2, gotta use that karma for something useful.
That'll work great on vacation where I just may not know the local area code.........
This whole problem would go away if you just had to give at least an area code as a prefix to dialing 911. Then the call could be routed to a local-state dispatcher. *Now that sounds feasible*.
Sadly, any real intimacy was immediately erased from the players face when they realized they were trying to empathize with a guy named Max Payne whose raison d'etre is to engage in slow motion gun fights.
I don't think he was referring to backups, but rather to incorrect calculations.
I don't know much about how wine works however, is it really possible that running quicken under wine could cause your books to add up wrong? Could someone with more knowledge chime in?
There's a difference between preparation and romanticizing. The post I previously responded to was clearly the work of someone who was fantasizing and over dramatizing.
Of course, your trite language makes me think that you also inhabit a world with a 'perp' behind every corner and action just around the bend.
"We also live on a planet inhabited by the most dangerous creature in the known universe: Man."
Do you know how cheesy that sounds?
"We want to be able to walk into a place and know that we have a good chance of walking out alive. It's the same mental preparation any number of people go through every day."
Do you know what divorced from reality you are? A gun will not protect you from 99.9999% of the causes of death in america. I'd say that's a fucking good chance.
And your whole attempt to say I was projecting is feeble and without any basis. Seriously, you tag it on as one sentence at the very end, with no supporting evidence. How fucking stupid are you?
These will have to be distributed in a very secure manner, preferably from a teller specifically. I can see people dropping trojaned knoppix cds around their neighborhood mailboxes, waiting for people to boot up and bank.

Fromt he chinese embassy itself.
Sure, it's a five year old article, but I'm fairly sure it still stands.
I for one blame the ossified porn industry for not making it easy to legally purchase content online forcing us to resort to P2P.
Because your server is impervious 100% of the time right? And this could NEVER happen to you.

You're just exceedingly cynical. Ultimately, they realize if they keep this shit up people will leave.
Ever wonder why Katz is gone?

Gah, I had to close the window. That trailer is tre-cheesy. It even hurts to hear it!

What the hell is your point? Counter-strike isn't fun because of any immersive qualities; the game is rather cartoonish. It's a fun point and shoot.
My point was you were overly dramatizing the situation.
"In my home I am king"
"At the 7/11 with a punk holding on the cashier, its a standoff, until he cracks a cap."
How is anyone supposed to take you seriously with such language? Any point you may have had is obliterated by the juvenile language you use.
Why do gun owners seemingly fantasize over the scenarios in which they may use their gun. It always sounds almost masturbatory.
